2023.04.03 22:38 ironicaltwist Use the right holster for your CPL people!!
To my fellow CPL holders, PLEASE make sure you're using the correct holster for your weapon. It shouldn't be illegal for a licensed CPL holder to carry on school property, but incidents like this just give the left more ammo to justify their draconian laws. I cannot stress this enough. It's great that people want to carry. But please make sure your weapon is secured and holstered properly.

2023.02.22 17:26 Nina_Innsted 1983 murder of Christina Castiglione - SOLVED
The Livingston County Sheriff's Department has announced the resolution of the cold case homicide of 19 year old Christina Castiglione.
Christina lived in Redford Township at the time of her disappearance. She was last seen between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on March 19, 1983, walking westbound on 5 Mile Road near Lola Park in Redford Township.
Her body was found 10 days later, on March 29, 1983, on state-owned land near the intersection of Fisher and Faussett roads. Her body was found after a heavy snowfall and the start of the snow melting.
Charles David Shaw has been identified has her murderer. Shaw lived about 5 miles from where she vanished near Livonia (Michigan). Shaw died in November of 1983 - he died of autoerotic asphyxia. His widow is still alive and provided a lot of information to LE about his behavior in the months leading up to and after the murder.
Season of Justice provided funding for the DNA analysis which lead to the discovery of her killer.
There was no known relationship between Christina and Shaw.
I don't know if her parents are still around, but her sister attended today's press conference.

2022.10.20 13:48 avatarlurvas [Online][5E][18+][GMT+2] 1-2 Players wanted for The Mines of Phandelver
*The post is now closed since I have found all my players. I've gotten a ton of applications so, again, if you don't hear back from me, don't take it personally*
Hello all!
My name is Myra (She/Her), and I'm 21 yrs old.
I'm a relatively new DM who recently who recently started my first game, The Mines of Phandelver. We were originally a group of 5, but unfortunately some of our players have had to leave (twice), and so we're looking for some replacements. The current party is made up of a Hexblade Warlock, a Cleric and a Ranger.
We haven't made it super far into the campaign yet since we're going at a bit of a slower rate, so please refrain from applying unless you're not interested in a slower pace.
I'm 21, and I'd prefer it if you were in that same age range.
It's not a requirement, but I'd also prefer it if you are comfortable with being on camera.
My main criteria is finding people that I think would get along well with the players we already have. We're here to have fun and the most important thing for that to happen is to have a group that everyone feels comfortable with.
We play Sundays 19.30 GMT+2, and the next session is this sunday 23/10.
Applications are done using this form:
https://forms.gle/CMRxWHmiJBwkZyx37 * I tend to get a lot of responses when I post, so if I don't get back to you, please don't take it personally
** Please refrain from sending DM's, I won't respond to them

2022.07.05 19:07 primepatterns Dr Jack Rogers, Exeter University / Women of BSV
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnu57dBVEqE I don't normally waste time watching the WoBSV videos, but I thought I would check this one out.
Dr Jack Rogers is Programme Director of the Fintech Masters at Exeter University which, as crypto enthusiasts will know, is Adam Back's alma mater and the place where David Rees was professor of mathematics. I believe CSW is currently enrolled there as a post-graduate.
I saw Dr Rogers in an
earlier video published by
Satolearn (some kind of BSV-based blockchain education hub) where CSW appeared before an audience of Exeter academics and students. The Exeter academics who moderated the Q&A struck me as very meek in CSW's presence, laughing at his jokes and celebrating his then recent win in Florida.
Is Calvin funding a new library or something?
This WoBSV video is notable for Dr Rogers' beta energy, unacademic mien, and apparently unquestioning acceptance of CSW as the inventor of Bitcoin. He claims not to agree with everything CSW says, contrasting CSW's Austrian school influence with his own Keynesianism, but he seems to agree with CSW on the main issues. š¬
There's a bit at about 1' 21" where Dr Rogers' mentions Adam Back and David Rees and conjures up a mysterious connection between them with Exeter at the centre. He says:
I sense that Craig doesn't necessarily tell the whole thing just yet, but, putting, sort of, two and two together, I think the fact that Craig's often mentioned someone call David Rees as well, erm, he was friends with his grandfather going right back, as a sort of inspiration and influence on Craig...there's definitely some sort of strong link there, and I can only imagine that one of the reasons he got hold of Adam might have been something to do with at least being aware of Exeter, you know that it existed kind of thing.
WTF are you babbling about man?
He goes on to explain how he became convinced that CSW was Satoshi Nakamoto by watching CSW's videos. Amazingly, I came to the diametrically opposite conclusion the exact same way. Jack and the Women go on to laugh about the social engineering that has led to our being stuck in a parallel universe where CSW is not believed.
It's all rather tiresome.

2022.06.14 19:08 belindaforbes Uvalde schools police chief defends response to mass shooting in first public comments since massacre
https://www.whmi.com/news/national/uvalde-schools-police-chief-defends-response-mass-shooting-first-public-comments-massacre Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Police Chief Pete Arredondo has broken his silence since the May 24 massacre at Robb Elementary School and is defending the police response to the mass shooting that saw 19 children and two teachers killed.
Arredondo -- who was sworn in as a city council member in late May -- told The Texas Tribune he didn't consider himself the commanding officer on the scene that day
, and he also claimed no one told him about the 911 calls that came in during the 77 minutes before the gunman was taken down.
This comes after a new report in the New York Times describes a briefing to state officials that āmore than a dozen of the 33 children and three teachers originally in the two classrooms remained alive during the 1 hour and 17 minutesā from when the shooting began to when officers initially entered.
According to an official interviewed by the Times, āinvestigators have been working to determine whether any of those who died could have been saved if they received medical attention sooner.ā At least one teacher and three children reportedly died after being evacuated from the school.
Arredondo claimed he didn't bring his radios with him because time was of the essence and he said the radios would get in his way, and he wanted to have his hands free, telling The Texas Tribune one had a whiplike antenna that hit him when he ran, and one had a clip he said would cause it to fall off his tactical belt during a long run.
The chief also told The Tribune the radios didn't work in some school buildings, which he said he knew from experience.
Arredondo said he teamed up with a Uvalde police officer when he arrived on the scene and began checking classrooms, searching for the suspected shooter.
"Not a single responding officer ever hesitated, even for a moment, to put themselves at risk to save the children," Arredondo told The Texas Tribune. "We responded to the information that we had and had to adjust to whatever we faced. Our objective was to save as many lives as we could, and the extraction of the students from the classrooms by all that were involved saved over 500 of our Uvalde students and teachers before we gained access to the shooter and eliminated the threat."
However, state investigators, according to a preliminary assessment, believe the decision to delay police entry into the Robb Elementary School classroom was made in order to allow time for protective gear to arrive on scene, an official briefed on a closed-door presentation by the head of the Texas Department of Public Safety told ABC News.
Waiting for protective gear contradicts active shooter protocols that have been adopted by law enforcement agencies across the country in the last 20 years.
The DPS information is based, in part, on transcripts from 911 calls, dispatch audio and body camera recordings. The review is ongoing and the DPS preliminary findings have not been made public.
The official confirmed to ABC News that Arredondo appeared to be aware police needed to move faster as shots were being fired in two classrooms.
āPeople are going to ask why weāre taking so long,ā according to one of the transcripts, as relayed by the official to ABC News. The statement is believed by investigators to have been uttered by Arredondo during the 77 minute rampage.
At 11:35 a.m. on May 24, three Uvalde Police Department officers entered the school using the same door as the shooter, which had not locked upon being closed. Law enforcement is looking into why the door did not lock. Those officers were later followed by three other Uvalde police officers and a county deputy sheriff, authorities said.
A total of seven officers were in the school and two sustained "grazing wounds" from the gunman, who fired down the hallway from behind a closed door, according to Steve McCraw
, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
At 12:03, a 911 call was made from classroom 112, according to McCraw. That person called back at 12:10 p.m. and said there were multiple people dead in the classroom. The 911 caller made another call at 12:13 p.m., according to McCraw.
In a portion of a videotape obtained by ABC News from outside of Robb Elementary School, what appears to be a police radio dispatcher details a 911 call from a student inside room 112 who describes a room "full of victims" at about 12:13 p.m.
Arredondo claimed he wasn't aware of the 911 calls because he didn't have his radio, and that the other officers in the hallway did not have radio communications. He also said if they had radios they would have been off to avoid alerting the gunman about their location.
He found no way to enter the classroom, called for a SWAT team from his cellphone and then waited in the hallway, according to The Texas Tribune.
However, the chief also claims he didn't give orders not to breach the doors.
"I didn't issue any orders," Arredondo said. "I called for assistance and asked for an extraction tool to open the door."
At 12:16 p.m., the 911 caller called again and said eight to nine students are still alive, according to McCraw.
The 911 caller inside room 112 called at 12:43 p.m. and asked for police to be sent in, according to McCraw. That caller again asked for police to be sent in at 12:47 p.m., McCraw said.
Officers from the Border Patrol tactical unit breached the classroom door using a set of keys acquired from a school janitor at 12:50 p.m. Officers shot and killed the gunman in classroom 111
, sources told ABC News.
A janitor first brought six keys, then eventually brought a set of 20-30 keys to the chief, The Texas Tribune reported.
"Each time I tried a key I was just praying," Arredondo told the outlet.
ABC News has reached out to Arredondo's attorney.
