'In Vision' Commentary Notes - African Hunting Holiday

2023.06.05 09:40 McGlone_Games 'In Vision' Commentary Notes - African Hunting Holiday

'In Vision' Commentary Notes - African Hunting Holiday
What do you do to get away from it all when you've gambled away all your money, your pec implants are drifting apart, and you've spent time in prison? Why, go on an African Hunting Holiday, of course, for another 'In Vision' commentary recap from 'The Strange and the Dangerous' DVD box-set.

\"RIGHT... thrrough.\"

For this one Louis is joined by Terry Nutkins, a British TV presenter and conservationist, who sadly passed away in 2012. This is my personal favourite commentary, as I grew up watching Terry on 'The Really Wild Show' and just thought it was lovely to see him again.

Cast of characters: Riaan (hunt organiser), Ann-Marie and Paul (American couple), Piet (animal breeder), Lolly (vet running a game farm)

  • The idea behind the episode was to cover another "luxury lifestyle" after they had explored gambling and plastic surgery
  • Terry does eat meat, but feels strongly against the "outright cruel" and "obscene" practice of "trophy hunting" (especially as the "hunting" shown in the episode is merely "shooting")
  • Louis says the "trophy hunting" had been made so easy it was more like "furniture shopping"
  • It was a struggle for Louis and the crew to get permission to film with a hunting agency, because the agencies knew how unpopular they were, and expected any media attention to be negative
  • Louis felt "an obligation to be fair" to Riaan, because he had "gone out on a limb" by agreeing to go on camera
  • Louis on hunting: "Not a good thing, really."
  • Terry has "no respect whatsoever" for the hunters in the episode, and considers it "outrageous" that they encourage their young children to shoot the animals
  • Louis was surprised that, at the time of filming, people were still able to shoot rhinos, but Terry suspects they could "bend the law, somewhat", if rhinos they had bred were being killed on their own, fenced-off land
  • Louis notes that a "300-pound" bloke just sitting on a truck shooting animals would be looked-down upon by the "hunting fraternity"
  • Most of the people who went hunting were American, but there were also Spanish, French, Middle Eastern, and British
  • Louis: "Apparently, the Spanish just, don't really care about trophies, they just want carnage [...] They like to shoot as many animals as possible."
  • Terry on Ann-Marie: "She's... yeah, someone I wouldn't, uh, want to spend much time with, really."
  • Louis brings up how much pressure there was on him to get involved (later saying that it upset him), after mentioning how spending time outdoors with the hunters "softens you up a bit" to joining in
  • Terry doesn't believe he could ever be "softened up", as he could only justify killing an animal for survival, and was appalled by how the other hunters were there for trophies, not "the excitement of the hunt"
  • Piet had previously been interviewed by Roger Cook, after Cook had made a documentary on "Canned Hunting" in South Africa, where he posed as a rich businessman and a lion was drugged to make it easier for him to shoot
  • Louis says the rules for lion-hunting had since been made stricter in South Africa, requiring lions to be allowed to live in a large enclosure for several years before being used for hunting
  • Louis and Terry agree that lions are "ferocious" and "incredibly frightening beasts" that have "no emotions for humans"
  • Louis mentions how, irrespective of the cost, hunters would not typically want to kill lions, and they were considered to be "the most emotive" species
  • On the other hand, hunters could also have little interest in animals that were too easy to kill, with one species of rhino having such poor eyesight that you could just "run up to it and shoot it"
  • Terry says tigers and lions are the most dangerous land animals, with lions being the more dangerous of the two, as at least tigers are solitary animals (a few lionesses would "tear you apart")
  • Terry is very impressed by Louis' South African accent (you can listen to Louis' 'Call of the Weird' audiobook to hear him to do plenty of other accents)
  • Louis estimates that a lion would cost £20,000 to £30,000 to kill, and a rhino would be £25,000 to £35,000, whereas something like a kudu would be only £1,000
  • Terry believes that a vet like Lolly justifies what he does with the near-instant deaths his animals will receive (Terry earlier spoke about how farm animals suffer worse deaths when they are slaughtered)
  • Louis discusses how much more "tame" the animals seemed to be on reserves where only crossbow-hunting was allowed, though Terry takes exception to Louis saying that they were "happy"
  • Terry never uses the word "happy" ("a very human sort of word") with animals and prefers to use "content"
  • Terry: "An animal is content when it has young, and it actually successfully rears its young."
  • Lolly refused to let anyone shoot his giraffes, and Louis visited two other reserves where the giraffes could not be killed (though Louis isn't sure if part of that is because they're "too easy" as targets and the owners knew people wouldn't ask for them anyway)
  • Louis relays how the "professional hunters" said that Lolly was in "the wrong job", because he was too close to his animals and would get angry at any hunters who weren't taking it seriously
  • Terry on a hunter posing with his kill: "Well, if it's so wonderful, why kill it?"
  • The hunters would stay for a week, and got together each night to show off their kills
  • There was a taxidermy workshop attached to the hunting lodge, which is where the heads are being taken during the butchery scene
  • Louis says "in theory" the meat from the killed animals was being "distributed to local villages [...] although, I never actually saw that"
  • Terry does not disagree that the amount of money hunting brings in can make the reserves worthwhile, and mainly has a problem with the attitudes of the hunters
  • When asked what species he wouldn't hunt, one of the hunters told Louis that "he would hunt them all, if he had the money"
  • Terry brings up how Ann-Marie might not want to hurt a zebra, but a zebra would want to hurt her ("a zebra would give you a really nasty bite, and a really nasty kick")
  • Terry warns how it may be that poachers wipe out a species in the wild and they only exist in game farms, but then the poachers will just move on to killing the animals in the farms
  • Terry believes animals "know when they are going to die" and that any preparations for their death will cause them stress
  • Terry states that all the animals he has seen so far appear healthier than they normally do in the wild, and have clearly been looked after
  • There is a discussion of whether our survival instinct means that human beings have an innate desire to hunt animals
  • Personal Note: After Ann-Marie shoots the impala, I always found it extremely creepy how Paul keeps saying "Lots of blood! I saw lots of blood!"
  • Terry goes off on Ann-Marie being "like a child" (and, despite how uncomfortable she seems, Louis mentions that she went on to shoot more animals)
  • There had been a lot of discussion about Louis hunting, and Louis knew that people would expect him to take part in the topic of the documentary
  • Terry had not seen the episode before, and so did not know if Louis shot anything (Louis, obviously, keeps quiet about what happens)
  • The Director and Assistant Producer had gone on "2 or 3 trips" to South Africa before filming began, were confident that they could have shot an animal, and strongly felt that Louis should try it
  • Terry notes how artificial the "hunting" setup for Louis is, with the animals lured to the area with food and water, and how the birds pecking the ground resemble chickens at a farm
  • Louis had "made an agreement with himself" to at least line-up a shot, take the safety off, and put his finger on the trigger
  • Terry acts like a proud father when Louis doesn't shoot anything
  • Louis had mixed emotions after not pulling the trigger, as he felt relieved at having made "the right decision", but guilty about possibly disappointing his audience
  • Terry says he's never killed an animal, then clarifies that he has accidentality killed two deer stags who had jumped in front of his car
  • As soon as they appear on-screen, Terry talks about how dangerous sable antelopes are, and that he knew a worker in a safari park who was horned by one, managed to get to his land-rover to call for help, and then died of blood-loss before anyone arrived
  • When Louis asks Terry if a lion cub could be raised as a completely tame lion, Terry replies with "No, you can't do that. They are always wild animals. Always."
  • Louis on Piet becoming angry: "I thought he was going to whack me."
  • Terry on Piet shoving the camera: "Good telly!"
  • Piet was big into genetics, and tried to breed animals from different locations to bring together their positive traits
  • They both note that Piet "improving the gene pool" to create animals with longer horns just so happened to mean that they would be worth more money to trophy hunters
  • Piet was also into "inline breeding" of his animals, which is just a fancier way of saying "inbreeding" (Terry does not approve)
  • Piet had claimed that sable antelopes were brought back from the brink of extinction by the numbers being bred for hunting, which Terry thinks could be true
  • Louis notes that such an approach would mean that only the "good-looking" animals will be saved
  • Terry talks about how if the hunting acts as culling (i.e., targeting older animals), the meat is used afterwards, and the animals are well cared for without any inbreeding, then it would be acceptable
  • Terry may, or may not, have been a champion jet skier ("Let the rumour carry on!"), but he really is missing parts of two fingers after they were bitten-off by an otter

Next up will be the final recap, where Louis (in 2009) lets us know that 'The Most Hated Family in America' has gone bankrupt and may never be heard from again.

2023.06.05 09:27 mpopbelpop Types of cars to book for road trip (LA - SF)?

hi all! My partner and I will be heading to US in Dec, and looking forward to a road trip from LA to SF!
Sorry this is a long one. Here’s some background:
Here’s our itinerary for reference:
Day 1 to 5: pick up car in Los Angeles Airport (Avis) upon arrival. Explore LA.
Day 5 to 9: Explore Joseph tree > Grand Canyon.
Day 9: Drive to Las Vegas (rest stop). Return rental car at Las Vegas
Day 10: Fly from Las Vegas to Santa Barbara airport. Pick up the rental car near Santa Barbara airport (Avis)
Day 11 - 13: Drive up to Big Sur (if roads are open) and Monterey.
Day 13: Drive to Yosemite
Day 16: Drive to San Francisco. Return rental car near hotel. Note: this is to save the valet parking fees which is $70/night, and we think we might not need the car the following day
Day 17: explore SF by public transport, ferry, foot. Half day at the Alcatraz.
<3rd part of trip>
Day 18: pick up rental car. Flexible plans (Muir Woods, Golden Bridge and/or Napa).
Note: we can’t return the car on Day 19 as it’s a major public holiday and most rental shops in the city are closed
Day 20: return rental car at San Fran airport
Our questions:
  1. Do you think that Avis would be the best option? We’ve taken into account its wide network and our membership.
  2. Considering the costs and weather constraints, what cars should we book for each part of the trip?
Thank you!

2023.06.05 05:06 Unlikely_Fudge_2901 Las Vegas Recommended Dispensary.

I posted a bit ago and got a message someone saying it was against the rules to inquire but I just looked and I'm not trying to black market source. I'm looking for your recommended dispo, so save the "I got a guy messages". (I know most are bots)
Visiting family this upcoming weekend in Las Vegas and coming from a non legal state. There's so many dispensaries in Vegas I don't want to get sucked into any tourist trap dispos. I only smoke flower so would just be looking for some shops that maybe specialize in flower preferably. Any fun shops in your experience with great selections?
I use a crafty+ so that will be the workhorse for the duration. Was also curious how dipso delivery services go, what's the added cost for a delivery? I prefer to look around and shop in person but might order one up for delivery just to get the full legal state experience.
Also a huge foodie, and want to have fun, have a daughter and wife so any fun things you'd recommend to make some family trip memories are all welcome.

2023.06.05 02:20 itzaredditacct 31[M4R] West Bay Grand Cayman, Chat buddies

I recently changed careers, and countries, and while I'm glad I made that decision, life is still more enjoyable when you have people to share it with.
I used to enjoy having someone to talk to, especially at night, and would enjoy finding that again. I work as a scuba instructor on Grand Cayman, so, plenty of funny stories to be had.
I'm originally from the southern United States, but most recently was living in Las Vegas working in tech before moving here. I decided to pursue happiness, and, the island has definitely been kind to me but, not in the friendship department.
I enjoy hiking, cycling, scuba diving, exploring new places, trying new restaurants, enjoying live music, etc. My favorite book genre is mystery, and for movies I usually enjoy comedies.
I've earned 117 certifications in the last year and a half in search of a better life, between IT, firefighting, emergency medical intervention, teaching English, teaching diving, etc. So, I'm always interested in learning new things.

2023.06.05 01:28 starlight_darkness 32 [M4F] Los Angeles Socal - Looking for my person. Do you like adventures and love horror/halloween?

First, this might not be the best place to look but here I am. I've tried dating apps before and it seems like swiping is mostly based on physical appearance, not that this app is any different, instead of who would be a good match.
Second, I have cats so if you're not a cat or at least an animal person, hope you're not allergic.
Third, I'd like to get to know someone first with no lies, games, or pressure and meet in real life, not online or long distance.
Fourth, for those who are bad at communicating or can't hold a conversation for more than a day, its better to just not contact me at all. Communication is a two way street and we all have busy lives, but it literally takes a few seconds to let someone know what's going on, especially in an era where everyone is glued to their phone's screen.
And if you've read this far great! A bit about me, I'm Latino born and raised in Socal. I rarely drink, dont smoke or do drugs, non religious, apolitical, no kids (don't want any) and never married. While I may not have it all together, I have a full time job, a car, good credit, savings account, pay my own bills, do my own laundry and cook my own meals, so that's gotta count for something.
Im more reserved but adventurous, when im free ill be outdoors like the beach or mountains, hiking, street fairs, trying new coffee / tea places, shopping for horror tees, movies, museums, Halloween cons and the occasional concert / weekend trip ( Las Vegas regular). I've been told I have that "elder emo" look, which I hate that phrase, although I don't think so. https://imgur.com/a/ALSXHOh
My sense of humor can vary. I can be sarcastic and have a tendency to jokingly give someone a hard time especially if i like being around them.
I'm big on music although I'm more into alt, punk, and metal than any other genre but I've been to a wide variety of concerts and can generally listen to anything with good lyrics or beat.
About you:
Single with no kids
Around my age
Has a car and a job
Local to the Socal SGV area
Similar wants, likes, and interests
Positive attitude
Good with communication
Does not base relationships off of qualities out of one's control such as zodiac signs or height
Not looking for a rebound, side piece, enm, or in an "its complicated" situation.
There's a lot more to me and while I'm not perfect, I'm not looking for perfection either. We all make our own choices or decisions and I can honestly say I've got very little to no baggage and am in no way, shape, or form still communicating or holding on to any ex, and expect the same. I don't carry the past into my present or future and don't believe in keeping toxic or negative people around.
So if you think we'd be a good fit for each other and can put in time and effort to see where it goes send me a message with some basic info and we can go from there.

2023.06.04 17:05 Rocinantes_Knight Battletech Beginning Player's Guide

Battletech is awesome! But what do you need to get started, there's just so much?! Hopefully this guide will help answer those questions.
The Basics
Inside of every Battletech, there are two games. Classic Battletech (CBT), and Alpha Strike (AS). They share an environment, and exist separately but also together. Think of them as two different rules approaches to the same basic content. Any mechs, maps, or terrain you buy for one can be used in the other. Lets look at them both in a little more detail to help you understand which one you might want to try out first.
Classic Battletech
The big boy, the assault mech in the corner. CBT was first published in 1984, and has survived mostly intact since that time.
Alpha Strike
The new kid on the block, AS was built to pare down game time to something more modern in length, while still providing the epic scale and breadth of options in the original. Surveys are in, and it succeeds at these tasks pretty well.
Buyers Guide
Classic Battletech Beginnings
Alpha Strike Beginnings
Classic Battletech Next Steps
Alpha Strike Next Steps
More Books
There are a half dozen more rule books covering various aspects of Battletech play. There are books for simulating grand strategy and books for running a mercenary unit (down to the taxes). There are books crammed full of exotic equipment and books that detail aspects of the battlefield beyond battlemechs. These books are also beyond the scope of this guide, but if you find yourself at the point of wondering about them, then it's too late. You're a Battletech nerd now.
There are Technical Readouts that give you lore on mechs and equipment, there are era source books, such as Dominion's Divided, the latest as of writing this post. There are scenario books that let you play through pivotal battles in Battletech lore, and there are planet reports that allow you to set your games in specific places around the Inner Sphere.
There are two TTRPG systems if you want to get up close and personal with an Atlas.
There's 40 years of content out there, and I haven't even touched on the novels! I recommend you start with either Wolves on the Border or Lethal Heritage, though lots of people will recommend starting with the Warrior Trilogy or the Gray Death trilogy.

Concept for the 2024 Jersey
Inspired by this thread and the complaints that the Circa Sports ad has resulted in the player Jersey looking worse.
Well imagine a future where the NHL has the player Jerseys look like Nascar Driver uniforms! Whatever happens in the future I hope the ads can reflect Vegas!

2023.06.04 06:01 CakeDude34 A Hypothetical Fallout RTS

So have been thinking about a hypothetical Fallout RTS that could be interesting and Bethesda would have options for factions and mechanics so I thought of some.
Major Factions on launch
Minutemen
East Coast Brotherhood(Fallout 4)
Railroad
Institute
No particular reason I chose the Fallout 4 factions over the New Vegas ones I just wanted to have 4 factions on launch
DLC Factions Ideas
Realistic options
NCR
Caesar’s Legion
Vegas
Master
Enclave (Fallout 2)
These guys have decent options for content and useful array of troops that they would be realistic factions options
Possible factions
Enclave (Fallout 3)
East Coast Brotherhood (Fallout 3)
West Coast Brotherhood
Nuka World Raiders
Some faction from Fallout 76
These factions are possible but can't really think of much to flesh them out like how can I make the West coast Brotherhood stand out from the east coast variants. Thinking that the West Coast Brotherhood, Fallout 3 Brotherhood and Fallout 3 Enclave can be subfactions that you can chose when you start the game up
Strengths and weaknesses of the Base game factions
Generally how I thought of the Factions abilities is that I based on Lore and stuff we see in games, example give with the Enclave from Fallout 2 we see that they don't like outsider so that will be reflected in how they work
Minutemen- Good all arounder with easier time capturing settlements (more on that in the Gameplay) for resource production with maybe access to T-45 so they can hold their own against the Brotherhood. Also I am thinking they would be more defensive of the four base game factions as they will generally want to defend areas to hold out for reinforcements.
East Coast Brotherhood(Fallout 4)- Access to high end energy weapons and Power Armor. Weakness more Expensive Units and slower to build said units and capture time on settlements is slowed
Railroad- Smallest armies of the base game factions but higher quality troops and relying more on Hero like units such as Deacon and Glory and good tech options with Gauss rifles and Railroad Heavy Armor
Institute- Cheap and disposable units in Gen 1 and Gen 2 synths and powerful units in Coursers with maybe some Super mutants for fun. However Coursers are not cheap and slow to build and the Institute will have a terrible time capturing Settlements.
Some DLC factions Strengths and Weaknesses
NCR-access to good units in the form of Rangers and Heavy Troops but both will have a limit and are costly, for the majority will have to be the standard trooper. Along with this lack of good hero like units or none at all, can’t think of any charter that would fit except maybe Oliver or Boone along with a penalty to working with minor factions (I will touch on those in a bit)
The Legion- Cheap troops that level up the more combat they experience becoming better and better until reaching a limited number of Praetorian Guards. Good heroes in the form of Lanius, Joshua Graham, and maybe Ulysses. Downsides lack of a good tech tree with your better units coming from your soldiers being upgraded. Also when they capture settlements they enslave them for a time penalty on resource production as the settlers adjust to the new rule.
Vegas- Powerful Securitron Mk 1 units and has an easier time getting caps and can gain access to Mk 2 series. Downside said Mk 2 series requires the Platinum chip to be gained, an expensive and slow tech to research that would take a while to gain and would be an end game tech for Vegas. Along with a lack of good units outside of the Securitrons, after all the White Gloves run at the courier with dressing canes
Master- Strong mutants that can hold their own along with nightkin for more hit and run tactics. Downsides Mutants require a new resource specific to the Master, Humans which he will need to make new Mutants that can be gain from settlements of all types but is gained slowly and the Master has an option to take people from settlement for a cost of resource production for a time
Enclave (Fallout 2) best Power Armor available in the form of the Mark 1 and access to Gen 2 mutants to perform as a stop gap troop. Can not capture settlements only wipe them out and colonize faster than other factions and gain a production boost for them as well and gain more resources from their buildings
Gameplay
Every Faction has access to Hero Units on top of their standard units. These will be either Companions from said faction, Preston for the Minutemen, faction leaders Legate Lanius, or both if they have good options Maxson or Danse from Fallout 4. Each one will be better in different roles when compared to others like Danse would probably be one of the better ones from a combat perspective but Preston would be better in a support role.
There will be minor factions on the map like Boomers, Great Khans, Children of Atom or Brotherhood chapters if no player is a Brotherhood faction. They can give you rewards in the form of troops or abilities to aid in the battle if you manage to secure their loyalty, or be wiped out so no one can get it though it will be difficult. Also should note if they are secured by one faction then they will not be able to be taken control by another faction so they will have to be killed, though if the faction like the NCR gets the loyalty of the Boomers and the NCR is defeated then they go back to neutral. You can think of them like shops from Warcraft 3 where you can buy potions or items from them
Along with the more neutral factions there would be one the map hostile like raiders or hostile fauna that can be kill for exp for heroes or Legions soldiers
The map will have settlements around that are the key to getting resources such as food, water, caps and other items that can be captured and can act as staging ground for attacks. Idea based of the resource points from Company of Heroes
Once a settlement is taken it will have to be captured by force for a cost of production for a time or destroyed so the opponent can’t take it back. I am thinking that player owns it they can destroy it to prevent it from falling to the enemies hands
If a settlement is wiped out the player will be able to recolonize it for the same benefit. Thought it will be while for it come back online. This could be annoying to programed but it would be interesting to see
You can also build resource production buildings in your base that can give you resources but they will produce less than settlements but some factions will be able to get more out of them such as the Enclave and Institute.
Tech
How tech would work is that you can research it in dedicated buildings, for example a “research hub” is where you would research better armor or weapons. Another way is to have specific buildings to get it like in Starcraft, for example to build NCR rangers at your barracks you would need a Ranger station or something like that.
There would also be unique tech for some factions as mentioned before Gauss rifles and Railroad Heavy armor would be given to the Railroad and Mark 1 Power Armor for the Enclave.
Conclusion
So here are some of the ideas and general concepts of how I think a Fallout RTS would work and would like to hear what everyone else thinks.

2023.06.04 05:33 Justeeni_lingueeni Why Everyone Should Learn How to use Oumaji

I've been using Oumaji for years and continue to play them to this day. There's something truly interesting about how they play that separates them from the rest of the tribes. In this post, I will break down every reason why oumaji is such an interesting tribe, the fundamentals that you can learn from them, and why you should start using them now.

Why bother? Aren't they just a strictly worse Yadakk?

Kind of. While the comparison of them both being fast expansion tribes that utilize the organization branch and them using roads are both true, that's where the similarities end. Oumaji is a much more specialized version of yadakk, able to apply pressure much sooner and more effectively, at the cost of having a significantly slower economy and worse resource spread. While yadakk may be overall stronger, there is certainly a uniqueness that oumaji has to offer that yadakk just can't.Consider their openings for example. Yadakk utilizes roaded warriors and organization for quick and efficient leveling, while oumaji doesn't have the luxury of roads. In exchange, oumaji can train many more riders in the early game compared to yadakk. By turn 5, oumaji may have as many as 5 riders depending on the situation, while yadakk typically doesn't train their first rider until turn 6. This key detail in their early game is what gives oumaji such a unique playstyle that yadakk just can't replicate.

What makes Oumaji so interesting?

The key factor with oumaji's playstyle is that they are forced to take a very aggressive route. While this does sound similar to a certain bottom tier, oumaji can actually justify it enough to hold their own. Oumaji not only requires you to make the most of what you have, but also forces you to limit what the opponent has. Their riders are able to exert a lot of pressure, and they need to maximize their pressuring in order to convert that early game advantage into something meaningful in the long term. Many other tribes are simply not forced to be aggressive, and can often win by playing defensively. Elyrion is known to be aggressive at times, but usually it's better to go with sanctuaries and outvalue the opponent. Yadakk can be aggressive, but they can also have a safe and easy game by enjoying their strong economy after their grand bazaar. Cymanti can be aggressive, but only if your opponent donates you free kills. Oumaji MUST be aggressive. Passive play won't cut it. You are being thrown in the deep end and it's sink or swim. You have to learn how to play aggressively, or lose.

What does Oumaji teach about aggression?

The first time you picked up Oumaji, the following things likely happened: Either you expanded quickly, but couldn't afford any techs. Or you watched as any time you tried to step on a village that wasn't on your side of the map, it immediately got swiped by a group of units in the fog. We've all been there. However, if you keep practicing and using them, you will figure out the secrets of pressuring and aggressive play.
It all starts when you decide to grab a few explorers to make sure you don't step on a village with a nearby army ready to kill it. This helps, but most tribes will still have a stronger economy than you, so you need to do better. Soon you realize that you can use the tactics that you've lost to, so you start strategically placing your riders close enough to the villages that you can kill an enemy unit that walks onto it. And just like that, through trial and error, you've learned one of the most important concepts for aggression; village denial. Rather than trying to step onto a village that you know you can't have, you instead keep enough riders to stop the opponent from having it, making it so then neither player can have the village. Now you have a decisive village advantage not by trying to expand more, but by forcing the opponent to expand less.
Another thing that you notice is that this concept can not just be applied for villages, but for enemy cities as well. By keeping units close to the opponent's cities, it forces them to train warriors in situations that they would've preferred to save stars or train a more threatening unit. You even find that if the opponent isn't constantly keeping a defense ready, that you can sneak in a siege or 2, but they don't always hold. Before you know it, you are learning the basics of pressuring. You are forcing the opponent to waste stars in situations that they don't want to, leading them to develop more slowly.
The last thing you notice with more play is that the rider's escape ability is a lot stronger than it initially seems. When used correctly, you can siege a city or land on a village from up to 4 tiles away by using the opponent's units as a springboard to bounce your riders all the way over. You've just punished the opponent for underestimating your riders, and you'll find this to be a very common way to win. When your opponent thinks they can defend cheaply and soundly, you can punish the opponent and potentially steal a city or 2 from them, which can be more than decisive enough to win the game.

That's a lot of words, I'm just gonna read the heading and ignore the rest of your post.

Ok I'll make a quick summary then. By playing Oumaji, you will learn:
I also have a handful of replays for players who want to see just how solid Oumaji can be when you use these tactics. Keep in mind I've just scratched the surface on what else there is to know about aggression, and it can go even further than what I talked about here. These replays do a good job demonstrating proper aggression, and just how powerful it can be.

It's an older game, so you will definitely see a few slight errors here and there, but I think it was still a well played game nonetheless.

2023.06.04 03:57 Amockdfw89 Visiting Las Vegas as part of a road trip. Should I hike at Red Rocks or Valley of Fire?

Good evening! I am taking a road trip from Dallas to several places in the southwest as part of a trip this December. We will visit El Paso, go to white sands in New Mexico, hike around Tucson/Sedona/Grand canyon and go to the petrified forest in Arizona as well.
We will be in Las Vegas for about 2 1/2 days. We will spend one whole day just relaxing and seeing the city and going to Omega Mart, one day hiking, and on the way out to Sedona stop by the Hoover dam. I saw a few places to hike and Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire seem to be the most popular. Depending on how tired we are we may only have a chance to do one.
Which one has the best scenery and would be worth visiting assuming it is the only time I will probably be in the region? Any other alternatives that are nice? We hike a lot but will probably be worn out and need to relax for Grand Canyon hike. So something that has more bang for the buck and casual.
