2023.06.05 09:43 PrivateFrank What is a good analogy to explain how "a debate about trans issues" is "a debate about trans existence"?

You frequently get transphobes complaining that they aren't allowed to "even have the debate" about trans issues. It's clear to me that what they mean is that they just don't really believe trans people when they say that they have gender dysphoria / they really are the gender with which they identify. So transphobes don't believe that trans people exist - but in the sense that they don't believe that being trans is possible in the first place.
However when told "please don't debate my existence", the transphobes claim that existence isn't the issue - of course trans people exist. They have names and bodies and social media accounts, after all. Of course they exist as human beings, but there's some fundamental disagreement about how gender identity works, and the transphobes want to debate that.
Of course it's very hard to have any debate about someone else's subjective experience of their own self. I have spoken to enough people and tried to educate myself on all of these issues, and I have come to the conclusion that the inaccessibility of someone else's first person experience is enough for me that the best way forward is to just believe people when they tell you who they are.
I'm asking this question because, as unlikely as it seems, I have some friends who have taken on board the idea that "militant trans activists" aren't allowing for any discussion at all. I know this is silly, bit this is how they feel. However unlike certain authors of children's books they genuinely aren't acting from a place of malice.
When speaking recently, the idea that "debate was not allowed" turned into a sticking point in our discussion. I could not think of a good way to explain why trans people feel like they can't accept "the debate" without at least protesting any time it happened.
Me pointing out that the socially conservative religious right use any debate as cover for absolutely horrible things which directly lead to a culture in which the lives and livelihoods of trans people being threatened unfortunately didn't connect with them enough. They didn't see this as a good enough reason to "shut down all debate", as they put it. The TERFs are transphobic for seemingly completely different reasons to the right wing transphobes.
So I'm stuck trying to think of some way to express the idea that some debates are off the table when it comes to trans issues. I think an analogy would help here, but I'm coming up short.

2023.06.05 09:41 disposal_n555 "Feeling cis" when I wake up

This is something I've noticed on a near-universal basis and I'm wondering if it's a common experience or not.
Basically, when I wake up most of my trans feelings are not present. I might start thinking trans thoughts quickly, but the associated emotions are not present. It feels like all the stuff I was feeling before going to bed the previous day didn't happen, or that I made myself feel it on purpose or something.
This did create some self-doubt in the beginning, but I recognize now that over time these feelings creep back into my psyche over the course of the day. I get subtle (or less-than-subtle reminders) of these feelings as I go outside/to work, if I choose to interact with trans media, or just as the day progresses. The anxiety builds up. By the time the afternoon rolls around I'm back to my usual mildly-dysphoric self.
Anyone else experience this?

Get the course here: [Download Course] Dan Koe – Digital Economics Masters Degree (Genkicourses.site)
Our website: https://www.genkicourses.site/product/dan-koe-digital-economics-masters-degree/

What You Get

Phase 0) Digital Economics 101

The Digital Economics 101 module will open 1 week prior to the cohort start date. This is an onboarding module that will get you up to speed so we can get straight into the material. This will be required to finish before the start date.
  • Gain a deep understanding of all of the pieces in the digital economy.
  • Learn about the future of media and code — the front-end and backend of the internet — so you can focus your efforts.
  • Understand digital leverage, distribution, no-code tools, and digital assets so you can take part in the mental & financial wealth transfer.

Phase 1) Creating A Meaningful Niche

Every day I hear people going on and on about trying to find their niche.I also hear people talking about how they don’t know how to combine what they love talking about with what will sell. You already have the answer. You just don’t have the clarity.
  • Develop a long-term strategy to create your own niche — meaning you don’t have to worry about your “competition” playing status games.
  • Discover your life’s work, curiosities, and obsessions. I see too many people that are uncertain about this for years.
  • Cultivate and turn your vision, goals, and values into a brand that attracts an audience you love interacting with (and that will buy from you, and only you).

Phase 2) Content Strategy

There is one thing that separates those who make it in the digital economy and those who don’t.It’s the quality, articulation, and perceived originality of their content. The content you post has to make sense to the people you attract.Everyone has a different voice and tone that they resonate with. That they are congruent with and trust. It has to change their thought patterns or behavior — that’s what makes you memorable. That’s what separates you from the sea of people posting surface-level copy-cat style posts.Example and putting my money where my mouth is:
  • Become an expert-level speaker or writer on the topics you care about.
  • Never run out of content ideas for your posts or promotions (without using content templates — that’s how you stay a commodity).
  • Create posts, blogs, tweets, images, and videos that resonate with other’s on a deep level. People will actually ask you how you got so good at what you do.
  • Separate yourself from the ocean of B-tier creators that struggle to sell their products, services, andhave their ideas stick in the head of their audience.
  • Implement our Epistemic Research Method — which is just a fancy way of saying scientific research method… but it’s for researching your mind to craft brilliant content and product ideas.

Phase 3) Crafting Your Offer

Most people are sitting on a goldmine of skills, experience, and knowledge (that they can use to help people 1-2 steps behind them). That is what people pay for.Considering 95% of the market are beginners… if you are good at something, you can help them get to your level (no matter how “basic” you think the information is).Do you not watch basic content all day anyway? People don’t want new information, they want to be reminded of what works.
  • Use our Minimum Viable Offer strategy to start monetizing immediately (and have something to improve over time, rather than procrastinating until it’s perfect).
  • Have a strategy for reducing the time you spend working over time (as you build leverage and improve your offer).
  • Know how to create your own customers from the audience you are building, instead of “finding” the right customer for your offer.
  • Take the guesswork out of building coaching, consulting, or digital product offers.

Phase 4) Marketing Strategy

You aren’t making money because you aren’t promoting yourself or your offer. That is literally the only way to make money. Have something desirable and consistently put it in front of peoples’ faces. In Phase 4, I will show you how to systemize, automate, and be consistent with simple promotions. You will be able to make money without having the chance of forgetting to do it (or letting fear of failure get in the way).
  • Learn to sell on social media, in your writing, and across different platforms.
  • Have consistent sales coming in while focusing on your meaningful message (no need to sound salesy all the time).
  • Learn advanced automation strategies that you can implement at your own pace, especially once you validate your offer.

Bonus) The Creator Command Center

The Creator Command Center is a Notion template that houses all of the systems. This is how you will manage your brand, content, offer creation, marketing strategy, and systemized promotions for consistent sales.

Bonus) Live Product Build & Launch

In the first Digital Economics Cohort, I built out my course The 2 Hour Writer.I have videos showing how I build it with the strategies in phase 3 and 4.There is a bonus module that shows how I had an $85,000 launch that resulted in my first $100K month.I did this to prove the strategies inside Digital Economics work if you stick to the plan. And, this past Black Friday, I blew my that monthly high out of the water in 4 days. That’s the power of these strategies if you stay consistent with your life’s work.

2023.06.05 09:32 Noisybee97FOUR Weed and Psychosis

Soooo before I knew I had a grandparent with schizophrenia, I didn't think much about weed risks. I only smoked it 3 times in my whole life, but for some reason, the 2nd time, even though nothing changed about the weed whatsoever, I hallucinated quite badly.
Talk about geometric shapes that got me unable to comprehend reality, life went to 14 FPS as if it was lagging and if I tried to focus my central vision on something, the geometric shapes completely covered it, I had to keep moving my eyes left and right so I could see what I am looking at.
That and I basically felt a mix of consciousness and autopilot where I would talk to someone, and in the middle of the conversation, I suddenly said, "wtf is this," and it was my phone. But during all of this, I was completely calm.
I was on antipsychotics that night due to other mental health issues. When I woke up the next day I returned to normal, though, felt quite a bit of hangover if that made sense.
Is my experience commonly, or should I be worried, I just triggered a ticking time bomb for schiz affecting me?

2023.06.05 09:27 RevolutionaryAnt5913 Local restaurant wrongly accused of obnoxious sign

A Chinese takeout restaurant in Bellevue was wrong accused of having an obnoxious sign demanding 25-40% tips. The Reddit Army began to leave numerous 1-star reviews in an attempt to destroy this small business. At first it seemed simply unfortunate, but folks were angry and wanted to see them burn. However, it turns out it's not even the restaurant's sign!
The sign belongs to nearby massage parlor. It's super common for restaurants, especially within an ethnic community to drop off their menus at nearby businesses like hotels, shops, nail salons, massage parlors, etc. to advertise to the patrons of the other businesses. Their menu was visible in the photo and that's what lead people to believe that it was their sign. It all makes sense now since you would expect to tip a fair amount for a massage whereas you wouldn't expect to tip much for takeout food.
This small business needs our support. Last night they were down to a 1.3 star average Google rating, but they've slowly been climbing back up. Leaving a good review or placing an order would surely help them recover from this. Here is a link to their Google listing.
I am in no way associated with this business, I have just seen this drama unfold over the past day.

2023.06.05 09:26 LFuculokinase Have any other folks experienced a sudden increase in bullying?

I’m in my 30s and have lucked out by not experienced bullying in regards to my nose until the end of last year, when I suddenly started receiving comments from random men on instagram telling me that I’d be pretty if it wasn’t for my nose, some of whom go on to tell me I should end my life. And what’s even weirder is that it’s not limited to photos with my face in them. Even neutral comments I make on medical posts (I’m a doctor) will result in similar angry comments in my DMs.
I don’t have a bunch of followers on social media; I’m about as boring as one can get. And I just have a basic Roman/aquiline nose. I’m starting to get so weirded out by this that it’s affecting my day-to-day life. I’m realizing now that this is truly all people can see when they look at my face, since none of the comments have mentioned anything other than my nose.
For instance, last week I posted information about clinical vs forensic autopsies and received a comment from random guy who said “maybe you should perform an autopsy on that ugly beak of yours.” They’re not actual funny jokes or even poor attempts negging, and none of these men seem to know each other. Long story short, I suddenly can’t post anything without someone obsessing over my nose, and I cannot figure out what is going on.
Is this happening to anyone else, or am I just cursed? Lol like what on earth is happening? Is this due to increasing anti-semitism? I’m trying to make sense of this.

2023.06.05 09:26 lulumeme We need to make a community-driven megathread explaining everything about this invasion and relations of ukraine and russia.

As Eastern European bordering russia, I(we) know russia very well, we know how to read its propaganda, we experienced occupation of soviet union, nazis, USSR again. What we (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Finland) have in common is a shared despise for russia, because of direct experience with it. You may call one group russophobic, other US puppet state(lol), but when every neighbor of Russia has shared violation of its sovereignity and freedom by russia, we jumped to support Ukraine from before even the invasion, because experience of Ukraine is relatable to us. We know what they go through, and when our support for Ukraine is dismissed as western propaganda it annoys us like hell, because we have direct experience, not retold stories, we despised russia before it was even cool(haha), our despise had nothing to do with US, and what I noticed is we get this way too often not from actual pro-russian russians, but..westerners.. Americans, western europe.
So I got this feeling over time that there is so much misunderstanding and misinformation about anything Ukraine related after this invasion, and there are so many westerners that love to be contrarians and started participating in discussions about ukraine without much understanding of ukraine, never knew any of these things they talk about before the invasion, so their 'knowledge' is very recent, not from long term interest and reading about ukraine-russia relations.
When I(we) say something pro ukraine, if the position simply alligns with the pro-Ukrainian pro-western one, we get dismissed as western propaganda, even though these people just recently had zero understanding of invasions of ukraine. They feel as if being western/american makes them an expert on western propaganda. So pro western stances are assumed to be posted by american or westerner too and i guess their contrarian pro-russian anti-western rhetoric about ukraine is aimed at other americans/westerners who also have only recently learned about ukraine. its aimed at those pro-ukraine americans, which is also partially a way for them to argue and 'own" democrats/current admin/liberals. For some its the main reason, so this group actually goes against ukraine and the west not because they support anti-ukrainian rhetoric, but in US the left/right constant conflict is such a big part of their information space and media that some of them adopt pro-russian anti-ukrainian rhetoric simply to bite back at the other side and current admin(biden).
So sometimes a pro-ukraine western position is assumed as indication of also supporting the west, the US, the current admin, democrats and believing their positions. The same people assume anti-russian rhetoric must mean being pro-ukraine, which means above said things. Despising russia doesnt mean supporting US and Eastern Europe and north as a whole get tired of what about america comments when arguing about ukraine. They probably assume supporting ukraine or US decision means that we are either american or support everything US does, just because our position alligns. Just because we support Us decision to support weapons to ukraine doesnt mean supporting current admin or US as a whole, so it seems misplaced when we are assumed to defend US as an anti-west argument. Eastern Eu and ukraine doesnt care about US but its shoved in to every conversation because they assume the pro-ukraine claim is made by american
this indicates that a lot of americans and westerners who naturally have only paid attention to ukraine-russia relations only after invasion, which is understandable but also means there will be a HUGE part of american/western population that find it hard to follow the overload of information coming from both sides, it makes it hard to learn all the history of russia-ukraine relations so fast, so some of them can not intentionally buy into or repeat pro-russian propaganda simply because it might seem to make sense, if you don't know the full picture and important details that debunk the claim.
So starting from crimea, there needs to be some kind of interactive mega thread about all things invasion related where you can hover over a keyword and it will open up a more detailed information about that, which can also have certain keywords that cover some key details or events. Im not tech savvy enough to do this and have no idea how to even start. Because of how complicated this conflict is, there needs to be some kind of FAQ of most common questions about ukraine that especially westerners will have. The claims would have sources with arguments that support the claim.
there also should be a mega thread targeted at russian propaganda specifically, debunking the claims.
I would love to have one big thread that is aimed at explaining things exactly for the international/western audience, when they know details that are left out by prorussian side, they will be more confident and have what to respond with. Eastern europeans know all this, but westerners need to be explained, this will help understand certain ukrainian rhetorics as well as russian ones.
What is a good way to direct americans/westerners towards less biased information space, that draws information from both sides (ukraine/russia) and confirms claims that are made by ukraine or eastern eu countries? it seems like those pro-russian americans and westerners dont actually follow russian information space and their media, so they have no clue what is western propaganda and what is not. You make a claim supported by even the ultranationalist pro-war russians and some westerner claims its western propaganda. You argue against pro-russian claim that is supported by russians themselves and its also assumed as western ukrainian propaganda, because these westerners dont follow russian media and information space, so they dont know when they're wrong and when their claims are contradicted by the source itself. they dont know what russians are saying and thinking, so they support pro-russia rhetoric without understanding what it is they're supporting. Apparently everything outside of russia is "the west" ?if majority of the world alligns with ukraine, does that mean most of the world is "west"? what does west even mean then if eastern regions are bunched up with 'west'.
Another thing i noticed is that since these same westerners/americans have not experienced soviet occupation and how their propaganda works, they have never developed resilience to it, thats why they so easily fall into russian propaganda, they dont see the patterns that eastern europe sees, they havent had decades of time to witness propaganda machine at work during various periods. So when westerners started following this conflict and realized just how much russia lies, they assume everything russia does is a false flag, and part of some big grand masterplan. They begin to see even neutral minor events as some calculated masterplan to fool the west into thinking or doing something, and that everything happens for a reason, so they buy into this (actual western propaganda) about how smart and far-reaching russian propaganda and capabilities are, they think russia has the same capabilities as soviet union.
since russia is not USSR for a long time, it doesnt have the budget to do any of that, but it does have the budget for creating the impression and media that russia is just as much a superpower as ussr was.
Now actual western propaganda is the red lines and fear of escalation of russia or that all russians are poor victims of brutal regime and they would support democracy and be anti-war if there was no pressure and free will. western propaganda is the shooting self in the foot just to 'not be like them' and that you have to talk with russia and russians like with any other normal civilized country, that it would be liberal democracy if only they could, that we should turn the other cheek and not strike back because we dont want to escalate.
there a lot of not actual pro-russians but simply useful idiots, for example anything related to escalation, nukes and WW3. The lack of understanding about it makes one assume any strike to russian territory will result in nukes. actually, westerners even promoted the idea that once russia annexes the regions we shouldnt be able to hit them, because russia would be able to use nukes. hell, the same people said giving ukraine tanks will bring nuclear armageddon, because i guess russian media said so.
we cherish life so some of us might have promoted the idea that the lives lost in ukraine are the lesser evil compared to nuclear armageddon where everyone dies, these people really bought into the russian propaganda about its capabilities and its irrationality. These people havent looked into it enough to realize how unrealistic it is. Russian media exploited this exact lack of research and western cherish for life and happiness, repeating nuclear threats more than north korea. Its useful for russia to scare entitled westerners into paralyzing fear, trying to appear irrational madmen than would not care about using nukes and dying, even though the acting was so bad..
russian media also exploited the western concepts of referendums and highlighting the will of the people to create some kind of fake legitimacy for their referendums and annexation. it also exploits the fact that laws and constitution means more in the west, while russia has changed their constitution any time they wanted, the 'government' always accepted everything putin proposed, never rejected anything, not even have questions for anything, never propose anything that conflicts with putin. in russia also just because a law exists on paper doesnt mean anything, i mean, private military companies are illegal in russia, but it simply doesnt enforce it, who cares right. want to jail your opponent? just jail him for 'corruption' and financial fraud - its such a blank empty cause that its the default go-to for jailing people if what they do is not illegal. so just because a law is there or isnt there doesnt mean anything in russia.
it does in the west, thats why it was so loud about referendums, because how could you override will of the people? who cares that you didnt even ratify the referendum, who cares if the referendum is about an act that is nonconstitutional, who cares if its not in effect yet and cant be enforced, its russia. who cares about legal procedures of how referendum has to be done to be legit, as long as they say the magic word -referendum, westerners will immediately collapse mentally and buy into it.
only a westerner would be so unaware of how illegitimate russia is, hell, by even most basic level, there was wide coverage of the ballot stuffing in russia, and them being caught. the "supervisors" are there not to screen for violations of election procedures, but to give legitimacy to ballotstuffing commission that verifies everything, it always finds everything fine and perfect, no major legal battles against the commision. who cares that opponents get jailed for "tax fraud" and hmm lets add "extremism" and "trying to overthrow government" just for funsies. Oh there is not evidence of your crimes? well the judge disagrees, who are you to go against judges judgement? this video (thats obviously not even you) is clearly YOU and all your family(threatened with obstructing justice or whatever if they dont confirm) confirms that!. you criticize putins government? well obviously you want to overthrow the government, i mean its obvious, is it not? constitution doesnt allow for the same president 25 years in a row? who cares just change the damn constitution, its not like everyone on your payroll will not vote in your favor. does anyone disagree? well hes obviously "doesnt pay taxes" lets jail him.
any neighbour of russia is aware of how much bullshit of a country russia is on levels unimaginable for any western mind, it surpasses china, even china isnt dumb enough to actually invade another country with weapons or threaten the US with nukes and shit.

2023.06.05 09:19 lancejpollard How is text encoding used for data alignment in the recent Meta AI "Scaling to 1000 languages" paper?

I am checking out the Scaling Speech Technology to 1,000+ Languages paper from Meta AI, and I have also been doing a lot of work (unrelated) with languages (I am working on a personal dictionary for learning a few languages, and also a programmer). I am curious about this uroman reference (here is the uroman romanization paper, but this snippet next is from the Meta paper):
The text data is represented using the uroman transliteration tool [Hermjakob et al.,2018] which maps different writing scripts to a common Latin script representation.... We lowercase all the letters of the uroman output and retain only a to z characters as well as the apostrophe character to train acoustic models for forced alignment.
That is all that is really said about it, as part of the "data alignment" section in the Dataset Creation section. I am new to data alignment, and have only done a few intro courses on machine learning so don't have practical working experience/knowledge in it.
What are they doing with this romanized text exactly? Why do they need to romanize it at all? Given that the romanization isn't exact, I don't see how it could be that useful. It seems to be that it is basically equivalent to just a lossy compression of the number of characters you are using, but something that is "somewhat" readable. But the romanization scheme isn't at all accurate for pronunciation, so I am not sure how this is useful or what it is used for exactly. Also, they were talking about text to speech, so the uromanized text seems to somehow be mapped to the audio, can you briefly shine a light on that so I can get a sense of what's going on behind the scenes?
Thank you for your help.

2023.06.05 09:19 CA53W-1 [Discussion] Let's Think Twice Before Buying Chronographs with 24hr Subdials

Dear watchers,
I've been thinking about something that's been bothering me lately, and I think it's time we take a stand against it when it comes to any brand of watches. You know those chronographs with those 24-hour subdials? Well, I believe we should reconsider buying them. Let's have a discussion and figure out why.
So, here's the deal: chronographs are watches that can act like stopwatches, helping us keep track of time. Usually, the main part shows the hours and minutes, and the subdials give us more timing options. But lately, it seems like some watch brands are adding these 24-hour subdials to their chronographs, which honestly, only tell us whether it's AM or PM.
I mean, seriously, that's not what a proper chronograph is supposed to do! A real chronograph should have 12-hour totalizers that let us measure time within a 12-hour period. It's much more practical and makes a lot more sense.
By buying these chronographs with the 24-hour subdials, we're basically telling the watch companies that it's okay to mess with the real purpose of a chronograph. And if we keep supporting this trend, we might lose the chance to own chronographs with 12-hour totalizers altogether. As watch enthusiasts, we should be all about accuracy, functionality, and sticking to what makes a chronograph a chronograph.
That's why I think it's time we send a message to watch brands by refraining from buying their chronographs with 24-hour subdials. We need to let them know what we want. We can reach out to them through emails, social media, and even share our thoughts in watch forums. It's all about telling the brands that we prefer chronographs with 12-hour totalizers. Our voices can make a difference, you know?
Oh, and here's another idea: let's explore other watch brands that still keep it real with the 12-hour totalizers. If we support those brands, we're showing that we value the true essence of chronographs. Maybe that'll make all watch brands think twice about their designs.

2023.06.05 09:13 Baconator_1 Did my ex cheat on me? Seeking insight from experienced individuals.

Hello all, I'm (22m) very inexperienced in romantic relationships. 2 years ago I had a situationship with a Japanese woman much older than me (39f). I'm mexican American who dated a woman who was in her 5th year in the country. I was extremely infatuated by her beauty and her body at first, it is what gave me the courage to talk to her at the gym where we would see eachother daily.
Things went really well but there were red flags I didn't notice. When we went out she wanted to avoid labels like "date" and played dumb by asking me what a date was, she also once called me a friend even though there was clear lust, attraction, and flirting going on. This was an early sign of emotional unavailablity or a fear of commitment. I wanted something serious with her.
Because I have low self esteem the affection and support she gave me to improve myself was deeply fulfilling and I didn't want this to just be a casual thing. On our first "date" we played pool and bowling then drank and she got seductive with me after I flirted with her and made intense eye contact. She wrapped her legs around one of mine. I was feeling nervous because I was feeling things I never felt for a woman before. I asked her to be my gf and she said no which kind of ruined the moment.
I asked because at the time I believed sex should only be between a couple. I still believe that to an extent but since I've matured I realized my need for regular physical and sexual intimacy. After this I made it my mission to conquer her heart which I accomplished, I won her over with my determination, and genuine interest in her, because of the value she added to my life i wanted to give her the world. I could not tell at the time how hard it was for her to open up her heart to me most likely due to previous relationship trauma. I should add that she felt like she wouldn't be good for a relationship, I was blindly shocked because of how charming and sexy she was, I found out that she has a promiscuous past and now present through my own unfortunate research which made me understand her comment. I believe her promiscuous lifestyle is due to trauma and low self worth which has made her fearful of real relationships and getting hurt again.
The reason for this post is because I have been thinking about some behaviors she exhibited that I never got closure on. Back to what I mentioned about sex, although I did win her heart I still didn't initiate sex because the label of bf/gf wasn't there, there were plenty of times we were very close to devouring eachother but I stopped it due to this belief.
As we got closer emotionally, our new semester began and she started to pull away. From the start she was secretive about her life, told me she didn't have social media (I discovered all her accounts after we were done), refused to show me pictures of how she looked like younger. A few weeks into the semester she said she would have to leave the gym every day early to go to a daily seminar at her college (yes she said it was EVERY SINGLE DAY and I believed her). She lied about a lot of other aspects of her life but I learned this is common in emotionally unavailable women.
About a month later she was late once to a workout session we planned and I had to leave due to class before we could do anything, this wouldn't have been a problem for me but the way she explained herself was weird. She told me she was doing a project for school (we were both in college at that time, her for masters me for bachelors), by her body language and tone I felt something wasn't right so I tried getting more information which she had no answer to, she couldn't even tell me for what class it was for or what the content was, then just said "its okay its okay", while gesturing for me to leave her alone.i began to feel insecure so I passive aggressively said that I better see her on time next time. I first attributed her behavior to feeling ashamed of being late since in her culture timeliness is important and missing out on a intimate moment with me but I am now thinking that was copium.
The following days I noticed her acting strange like if she was ashamed of something or herself. She was emotionally distant to me which cut me off guard because before this she was beginning to be truly vulnerable to me about her upbringing and wanted to introduce me to one of her friends. I blamed everything on myself because of my passive-agressive comment and my persistence to make her open up when she expressed before she struggles with emotions. I tried getting her to open up so we could talk, she wouldn't and it looked like I was making her uncomfortable when i did. It drove me crazy but I never lashed out but got more anxious, she then stonewalled me, leaving the gym with me chasing her trying to fix things. I tried desperately to find ways online on how to deal the situation with her specific personality type. She apologized through text for not being able to "reply to my desire" and then asked me to leave her alone for the rest of the semester. Due to the size of this post I won't go into the details of the breakup so comment down below if there's any interest of one. After we broke up I attributed this distant behavior to her being emotional unavailable for so long and her needing space to get used to receiving my unconditional love. If this was the case i wish communication could've been better so I would've been much more understanding and patient. However if this was due to her feeling ashamed of cheating on me then my feelings on the matter change.
Recently I've been seeing a lot of reddit stories on tik tok about cheating and infidelity and when I see posts about signs that someone is cheating I tend to overthink, a lot of comments on these posts say that a woman is really good at hiding her affairs and some reddit stories are really gut wrenching. The answer might hurt me but I want to stop my overthinking because I don't want to hurt myself with these thoughts if they didn't actually happen.
I understand I exhibited immature behaviours, I am very hard on myself for these mistakes which is why I haven't moved on after 2 years. I learned not to be too hard on myself since I didn't know better and it was my first relationship where I was truly in love.
TL;DR- I suspect my ex cheated on me but I am not able to conclude due to lack of closure, copium and inexperience in romantic relationships. Thoughts or wisdom?

2023.06.05 09:07 TryingtoGetWell28 Clarifying some tech myths and facts for everyday people

I’ve worked with numerous businesses and organizations who get confused about digital topics. I wrote out my notes to help clarify some issues. Hope this helps!
  1. Myth: I just need to quickly review my website data and do some updates to improve SEO
Fact: there are some quick site updates and longer term updates that could happen with SEO. That takes studying quality information on data and content, analysis, understanding the audience and objectives
  1. Myth: I can choose this CRM that this salesperson told me would work well and I’ll be all set
Fact: do your research on CRM options for your industry that could have automations and other useful features. It’s useful to ensure that your CRM works well for your specific workflows. Try testing out the software and see if your team thinks.
  1. Myth: all I need to do is have someone start posting to social media for my organization and that could be helpful
Fact: research, planning and testing out strategies are useful when it comes to reaching an audience online. It helps to discuss the process and message you want to send out to your viewers.
  1. Myth: I’ve never managed creative projects before but I don’t think it’s that difficult
Fact: these projects can easily become confusing and can influence one’s emotions. Brand guidelines, templates and brand identity planning can be helpful to stay on track. These can be adapted or adjusted over time as needed. It also helps to think of projects in terms of milestones or goals to reach over a year or two.
  1. Myth: I just need to have someone create Google ads for my small business with my small budget and it should work.
Fact: while it could make sense to start out with a small budget, there are various Google ad formats to choose from and optimizing those could take months before seeing desired results or understanding next steps.
  1. Working with digital media is fun, whether it’s a hobby or a job
Fact: it involves continuous learning and high emotional intelligence. This is because it’s easy to get angry, frustrated, or confused. Having boundaries is helpful, and discussing realistic expectations of the experimental nature of these projects.

Creative Writing - write poems in my free time sometimes, had a work published in my schools literary magazine
Work (Paid) - cashiebarista at a boba place
General member for NHS, Beta, AASO, and SWENext
100-150 volunteer hours (could be more could be less but the lady in charge of hours at my school has not responded to the last 5 emails i've sent over the year asking about how many I have)
Essays/LORs/Other:
Common App Essay - solid 7/10 averaging the ones i've started, language arts teacher last year told me I'm one of the strongest creative writers she has and she's very tough on writing. I have what i think might be good topics (might be generic tho in terms of my demographic), I've started on multiple essays for my strongest topics: red and the multiple meanings it carries (i.e. culture, events, people, memories, objects), being torn between my passion for the arts vs academics (as my ecs lean heavy on the arts so that addresses that a bit) and how that divide affects my relationship with those, or my tumultuous history with instruments and my cultures effect on that relationship
LORS:
11th LA teacher - she's my school mom and I love her sm, she's seen me really grow in my writing (and as a person) and has helped me to be able to get more creative with it as well. Whenever I need god advice she's one of the first people I turn to and she's probably my most trusted adult at school; I can ask her about pretty much anything and she won't judge (i'm able to talk with her ab my mental health and how school's been affecting it which I can't really talk ab it to my parents because they don't really believe that much in mental health if its not something obvious), we're pretty close and i even got the chance to write something for her wedding as well, she's definitely going to be a teacher that I'm gonna visit a lot senior year
ap chem teacher - she's seen me really grow as a person over the year and out of all my teachers, she especially can testify to my curiosity, drive to learn, and my determination/dedication as she knows i've stayed up late many nights so i could get good calculations and pre/post-lab questions (i'm surprised i didn't drive her crazy with the sheer amount of stuff i asked too), we're pretty close and i also tie-dyed a onesie for her upcoming baby
Note: my schedule got really messed up in junior year so I wasn't able to take many aps then so trying to make up for it with senior year (considering the self studied ap i did, I'm around 2-3 aps behind most of the top students at my school so my ranking is thus a lot lower than it could be, school offers around 20 aps but many are blocked behind prereq classes), schedule resulted in me taking senior year science in junior year as well an additional credit of Chinese instead of another AP (now at 3 years of Chinese, conversational level)
Schools: going for the ivies and JHU are considered me shotgunning I'm pretty sure considering my ecs lol
Idk which admission path yet so if anyone has any advice on deciding which admissions path would be most beneficial for me, that would be greatly appreciated: JHU (idt its legacy but i have several aunts and uncles that have attended), Cornell, UIUC (legacy, leaning towards EA), UChicago (legacy from grad school, admission path and if i even submit an application is hinging on how creative the writing prompts are gonna be), UPenn
EA: UGA, Georgia Tech
RD: MIT, UMich, Georgia State University, Kennessaw State
