I’ve been sick with long Covid for 11 months now. I’m slowly improving but it’s been a very tough battle. I might have some scars left that will never heal. I lost my engineering job and my spot to go to the Air Force Reserves. I was completely destroyed since my siblings and I grew up in an abusive household and I didn’t even think I would make it this far in life. My accomplishments in life are all I have. My family is all I have. My mother has an autoimmune disease and needs all the help she can get when she gets super sick or lands in the hospital. It was super tough to see her fighting for her life twice in the hospital while I was fighting long Covid myself and was very limited to what I could do to help her. My brother and sister live with my mom in a house I was able to put in a down payment on and get the loan. At 578 a month it was the cheapest I could get for a 3 bedroom. My brother is 23 but refuses to work because working makes him “anxious and depressed”. Wow… literally all of us. I told him if he couldn’t work to provide for himself then he needed to leave. He still lives there doing nothing all day. My sister is in college and this summer she wants to have an internship an hour away even though she has no car and has no experience driving on a busy highway where there are way too many accidents to count. So I told her to scrap it for this summer and try getting a summer internship closer to home or try for another summer getting that same internship when things weren’t so crazy. She got upset and agreed. However, she later turned around and applied to the internship anyway and told me about it. Of course I got upset with her and told her why. 1.) she needs to practice more to drive in a highway like that before she commits. 2.) she should focus on trying to get the car she needs in the first place 3.) the timing with everything going on is terrible and it adds more stress to the situation. Mom needing more help around the house since I can’t help her like I used to. She didn’t care and said she would do it no matter what happened even if she got in an accident. Of course, we had our falling out and haven’t talked since. Over the years I have bent over backwards for her to get her what she wants but in doing so she has learned to not take a no as an answer even if it harms someone else. I have also noticed that little things I get compliments for (my long wavy “mermaid” hair) she tries to copy and if someone else has something she likes she goes out of her way to buy something similar. When someone suggested a certain hair product to me, she went to buy it for herself. At first it didn’t bother me, but with the years she kept doing things like that and it got annoying. Long story short, I now see her as selfish and a low key jealous individual. My brother just wants every excuse to be lazy and then blame it on every one else. Yes, I have my faults but I no longer want to associate with them. My sister tried to patch things up and I refused. I told her “you made your choice so I’m Making mine.” Call me childish but with long Covid and my mom being this sick my priority is family and this just broke me. I no longer want a relationship with them and will only do things for my mom from now on.

Long story short my local bar here in Massachusetts the girl bartender befriended me. Immediately texted me asking for money ($1,300), gave me a sob story about how her and her son were being evicted. I put a month time limit on the loan.
2 weeks later asks for more because car in the shop and can’t work. 2 weeks later asks for like $2,000 more. Not sure why she’d think I’d give her more. I can only speculate drugs with all the crazy lies she came up with.
The girl is no longer employed at local bar. Should I talk to bar owner and let him know? I’m assuming there are other victims.
Also I don’t really care about the money, it’s more the way she handled everything. When I asked when i was getting paid back one of the responses was “you’re a fucking doosh” Don’t want to think she can get away with treating people like this.

Okay so I’ve never looked into BK until the last few days and I’m not sure it’s the best option for me, so I’d love some opinions and have a few questions.
So debt wise I have around 35k in CC, 4500 in my car loan, and 16500 in student loans. I think there’s also a $100 medical bill floating around the collections world somewhere too.
I’ve been making minimum payments for the last 3/4 years so never getting ahead and recently had to miss some work due to an injury and now 3 of my cc’s are behind and I have no idea when I’ll be able to catch up, add in student loan payments starting again in a few months and I won’t be able to handle it all. I make probably $1000- 1200 a month give or take (I make commission and tips so it varies greatly, some weekly checks are less than $100 and some are $500+) and I’m going into a slower season of work for the next 2 months so I expect them to be lower checks. My total I pay in bills each month is around $1150 so barely anything left each month and this is before student loan payments as well.
I don’t have a true rent payment as I live with family, but I do pay them cash every month. As far as assets I have about $600 in restricted stock units (I can’t cash them out), and that’s about it minus my car and $40 in my savings account.
So a few questions - 1. my car loan is 100% up to date and I’ve never paid late since I got it, would I be able to keep my car? It’s the only asset I have, but also I can’t work without having transportation and there’s no public transportation in my area (we don’t even get Ubers here).

1. If I’m a beneficiary for other peoples life insurance plans or benefits, will they be affected? My parents and brother both have me as beneficiaries but they are all extremely healthy and my relatives tend to live a long time.
   
2. My health insurance is currently through state Medicaid, any chance I would lose this? Because I have a lot of health issues and wouldn’t be able to afford my medications other wise.
   
3. Also how do I find a good attorney? The few I’ve found near me have sketchy websites and I can’t find much about them

I work in digital marketing, and my salary is right at 65k. I was promoted within the first 6 months which was great and came with a raise.
Issue is …. I live in a VERY HCOL area and I am just simply not being paid enough. I don’t have a car, and I’ll be needing one soon. The car factor with insurance as well as student loans kicking in is leaving me with just $400 a month left over after all my bills (rent, food, gym, etc). To be able to be okay here — I need the bump to 75k.
I am imagining it’s too soon to ask for another raise. But what is one to do in this case? If I am required to live here — but simply not being paid enough. Living with roomies won’t make much of a difference either, as the price I pay currently for a 1 bedroom is right on par with the price for a bedroom in a 2 or 3 unit apartment now due to rising housing costs. Thankfully I am rent stabilized so my rent can only increase ~3% a year.

My husband and I recently completed the conversion of our detached garage into a small home (DADU), total cost about $240k and just signed a year lease, monthly rental rate $3050 (we also have an investment property we rent out). We initially refinanced our primary mortgage back in 2021 to obtain capital and lower the interest rate but construction costs were significantly higher than anticipated. The remainder of the cost was financed through credit cards and a HELOC. Our credit is excellent but varies depending on how much of our credit lines we use.
My plan is to chip away at the HELOC debt first and potentially refinance the $220k loan when interest rates go down a bit. Our financial details are given below. I keep seeing this question pop up all the time, especially now but tied to the debt ceiling negotiations. Why are people taking loans and then expecting forgiveness? I wouldn’t expect it for my car or my house. What gives? Is there something about student loans that are somehow worse than other loans? You always have to pay back way more than you borrow.

Completely blindsided by it. Usually the company is really good at informing us when changes are happening, but I guess not when they are eliminating 2% of positions.
I now have 3 weeks left with this company. I get a decent severance package, benefits 60 days after my last day at the rate I’m currently paying so I do have time and will have plenty of money saved after selling one of our cars we already planned to sell. Current openings in my field are slim in my area, but tend to open up during summer with people relocating out of state and what not.
This leads me to my question. Do I rush to find new employment or do I take my time, revamp my resume and try to be picky to find a better fit for myself and my needs?

Hello, my girlfriend and I both 24 moved to Memphis TN for work and were hopeful about purchasing a home in about a years time. Our current finances are:
Rent: $1350 Car payment: $552 Car insurance: $175 Phone: $125 Credit cards: $500 Student loans: $350 Miscellaneous: $50
Our monthly take home is $6,208, we have fallen on really hard time recently and have no savings except for my retirement account which is about $5,000. Our goal is to have credit card debt gone by the end of the year and start building a emergency fund for the next time we are down. What timeline do you think we could realistically purchase a house with our finances listed above or any financial advice you could give to young 24 year olds to help us be better with our money. I used to really enjoy driving so I’m not sure what’s happened. I’ve done 10 lessons and completed all the practical stuff, it’s just a case of practicing now. My test is in August.
I used to go out in my own car for private practice every night. In the last two weeks I went out once for 15 minutes yesterday and hated it. I’m not even nervous, I’m just pissed off that I can’t drive yet. I’m such a calm person normally but I feel like I’ve developed some kind of intense road rage. The car stalled at traffic lights and I literally almost just got out of the car I was so fed up. When it came to parking I just parked in the middle of two spaces. My partner tried to help me reverse and try again but I just turned off the engine and told him to do it instead. Any time I make a mistake I just think fuck this and have the urge to stop the car in the middle of the road and get out!
I have cancelled on my last two lessons. My instructor asked me if I’d like to book another and I said I’d get in touch. I have a block of 10 left but I don’t think I’ll book more. The idea of booking one just fills me with dread.
I can’t stop now because I’ll just forget everything and I don’t want to start again. I need to do my test in August but there’s not a chance at this rate. Has anyone else dealt with this? I don’t know why I suddenly hate it.

Looking to aggressively tackle my debt, had to take on more CC debt than I’d like to the last 4-5 years and combined with interest rate hikes it’s making it harder to fathom the cost long term. I am making more than I was 4 years ago so I have more stability but want to improve towards financial freedom.
I was making less earlier in the last decade but have more stability now and think refinancing would be a possible choice to tackle this mountain of debt.

Couple of questions: 1. What are people’s experience like with Debt consolidation loans? Is this reasonable given my cc debt and raising interest rates?

1. How does my plan of attack look? With commitment to NOT using the cards.
   
2. Am I screwed if I get denied the loan? That immediate hard inquiry will suck.

After a really crappy job and immense budgeting I have about 35k saved up(took about 2 yearsish?). Im 25 and am starting a new job making slightly over 56k a year and I guess its time to be serious about my money, I have exactly 11k in federal student loans that ive never payed on because theyve been paused and there was all the talk about them potentially getting cancelled. Im wondering if its worth just paying them off outright and dumping the rest of the money into savings? My only big concern with that is my car is pretty old('06 with 150k miles) and while it doesnt currently have any serious issues I worry about it, however I have no monthly payment on it. Honestly all this money is currently in my checking, I have no savings account or investments so im pretty lost about where I should divide this money up. Ive got good credit and would like to buy a house in the next year or so, and I live with my girlfriend who makes around 46k and we split all our bills, biggest bill is rent and I pay about 630 a month, I just want to be able to retire one day and be involved in my hobbies while im still young and healthy.

Stumbling over my words. I turned around and starting walking back towards the door. Everything slowed down my steps, my body movement, sound came to a halt, only things speeding up was my heart rate. Then it happen I locked eyes with you. Everything came to a stop, everything around blurred but you. Your eyes I missed how beautiful they looked. Locked eyes and felt you deep in my soul. Decided to head your way to say hi. But I couldn’t think straight. Nothing else mattered. It like you had a bright glow around you. Made my eyes squint. Came to say hi then it happen I felt you hand on me. Flowing endorphins feeling flowing free, destroying the damn wall coming out. The pulse of electricity running over my body my skin my hands my fingers my face. TITLE, as an international PhD student in the middle of nowhere in TX (without any form of reliable public transportation) and having no cars from the beginning (no driving experience, no drivers in immediate family, etc), I want to know what could be the minimum price I pay for a used car that could last 4-5 years until my graduation that I could buy after getting my license next month. I don't want to bear any installment loans and my living expenses is strictedly limited to ~700 per month excluding rent and mandatory health insurance, so also I cannot afford a high car premium. I have browsed a lot from Facebook Marketplace and seems like most of them are scams (odometer fixes, fake titles, accidents, etc), so any suggestions are appreciated!
For reference now I have about ~9K in savings account.

Me and my brother recently went over to my dads to celebrate my brothers brother. Because our parents our divorced, we went over to our dads to celebrate it with him while we ate dinner at a restaurant to celebrate it with our mom. The party was located in a barn over at my dads that got redone and is this nice space with a refrigerator, a ping pong table, couches, a microwave, etc. The main house at my dads is where my grandpa died and I am telling you in advance because it will hopefully make the story of what happened that night even more intriguing. I won’t say anybody’s real names in this story just because of personal reasons and I respect there boundaries but I don’t mind saying my real name, my name is Jaron. I will call my brothers name Michael. So, Michael invited friends over to celebrate it with him, 7 friends in total showed up. We just hanged out, sang karaoke, played games, etc., the usual party activities. Anyways, it was getting late (very late, 2 AM kind of late lol) and 5 of the 7 friends left, leaving it to just 2 left. My dad also left to get some sleep because he was very tired as well. I will name the remaining two friends Russel and Patrick. So in total it was me, my brother, and his two friends that were left(4 people). These events though were only witnessed by me and Russel, so Jaron and Russel only witnessed them(that is very important to know btw). I will just go ahead and jump straight into the first event that happened out of the three, so the story isn’t too long. At my dads, there is a trailer that is used for guests whenever they stay over but was originally used by my dad after the divorce happened between him and my mom, it was also a win-win because my grandpa whom died in the main house, had dementia, so my dad would take care of him. Me, Michael, Russel, and Patrick all slept in it when we were over there. Anyways, so Russel walks over to the trailer because he has to use the restroom, he walks back to the room the rest of us are staying at and the first thing he says when he walks in is, “Jaron, did you open the door, look at me, and close it?” I was confused and so was he because I was singing karaoke with Michael and Patrick while he was confused because I went from being at the door to being across the room in less than 5 seconds. Both of us thinking it was a prank, Russell explains to me that what he saw was legit while I explained that i was just sitting on the couch singing karaoke not even close to the door when he walked in and asked me that. I didn’t even know he walked in until he said my name. To figure out what happened, I sketched it down to him having a hallucination because he was high and drunk. But, I didn’t know that being drunk and high can cause hallucinations like that or even hallucinations at all(if I am wrong than please let me know in the comments because I am not an expert, thank you). Very much confused and a little shook on what happened, we both go back to the activities of the party and try and not overthink what happened. But, something after happens to me that I can’t explain and understand. So, I have to use the restroom after this and I go to the trailer just because it is the closest to the barn we are chilling in. As I arrive, I notice that the entrance door to get in the trailer is wide open. I quickly go to the bathroom and walk back. Confused but also thinking that Russel just left it open again, I walk back and ask him, “Did you leave the trailer door open again?” He immediately without any hesitation responds, “No, after you told me about it being open and me responding with yes that the first time was indeed me leaving it open, I made sure to close it.” He promises that the last time he used the trailer he closed the door. The last time ironically was when the first event of him seeing someone open the door, look at him, and close it occurred. I asked him who it looked like that did was. He said that he couldn’t tell, but he definitely thought it was one of us, like basically he saw the shadow of someone and couldn’t make out the face to pinpoint who exactly it was. The door being wide open caused me to even have more suspicion towards Russel. I mean it could definitely have been a clever prank because it is a birthday party and is late, which is the perfect time to do a prank like that, especially a scary one like what happened. But the behavior that Russel was showing seemed trustworthy that what he was saying he saw and saying that he did close the door and was legit. Well after these two events, confusion took over and we wanted to know what was the actual cause of these bizarre events. Until, the last thing happens that is either a very crazy coincidence or something sinister at play. Russel has to use the bathroom for the last time that night and this time he chooses to walk to the main house just because the trailer toilet isn’t too good and I completely understand him, I mean I did go there every weekend when my dad was living in it. I walk with him to the bathroom and run back, I have so much fear and was paranoid after all that happened that I am fearful and just full on sprint back like I’m Forrest Gump or something. Russel gets back and immediately he tells us. “When I was in the restroom, I heard a car pull up on the side of the road right next to the house and just heard it sit there. After I was done with the restroom and walking back I turned on my flashlight since it’s very dark out. I pointed the flashlight over to the car to signal to them like a wave but mainly to see what they were doing. Instantly when they noticed I was pointing the flashlight over to them, they slowly sped away but at a rate of being slow to than full on speeding.” After what he told me with that car, at that point I am very confused and just want to know the explanation to what happened. Thinking that car was just a crazy coincidence and the person in it was just texting or something, I calmed a little down. But why would anyone pull up that close on the side of the road to the house, and who the hell would be sitting out at 2 AM texting, and finally if they were texting, why make it suspicious and instantly leave after getting a flashlight shown on you. The car could have just ignored it if they were truly just sitting there and texting or something. To instantly leave after that, is just very creepy and unsettling for me and Russel. Again, all this could have been a clever prank, but his genuine confusion just like I had when all this stuff happened, proves to me that he wasn’t pranking us. Either Russel is a very good future actor or something paranormal happened. Just for all the stuff to happen one after another, it is hard for me to comprehend it. And knowing my grandpa died in the house, kinda proves to me more that paranormal work was at play. I didn’t really believe in the paranormal before what happened and I still am unsure about it all, I mean I am personally religious and believe in god, so technically he would be paranormal and supernatural. Oh and one more thing, I promised I wasn’t gonna say anyone’s name except for mine, but to create an even more creepy coincidence, Russell’s name is actually Jesus. His name is actually pronounced Hesus. I don’t know, just a very weird coincidence or maybe a sign. I can’t understand what happened and I wish I could to crack the case.

Found a car on dubizzle and after viewing and test driving I decided to go for it.
However it seems the car is currently financed and the bank it’s financed from doesn’t do loan transfers.
I have the means to pay in cash the amount I agreed with the seller however I would like to know the best way to go around it. After doing some digging it seems I can do it through a PoA (Power of Attorney) or a Seller’s Agreement (Mubaya, Mobaya, Mubayaa, Hausa). Any idea which would be the better option?
I understand that the bank will provide a release letter and notify RTA however to be covered, which document I need to get that proves that I made the agreed amount to the seller?
Also when registering the car in RTA what documents will I need besides my EID, Driver License and PoA/Seller’s Agreement or are these enough?
Would love to hear from people that have actually done this or are familiar with the proper way to do this. I really liked the car and the seller seems like a really nice and decent guy however nowadays you never know unfortunately.

Anyways, so Russel walks over to the trailer because he has to use the restroom, he walks back to the room the rest of us are staying at and the first thing he says when he walks in is, “Jaron, did you open the door, look at me, and close it?” I was confused and so was he because I was singing karaoke with Michael and Patrick while he was confused because I went from being at the door to being across the room in less than 5 seconds. Both of us thinking it was a prank, Russell explains to me that what he saw was legit while I explained that i was just sitting on the couch singing karaoke not even close to the door when he walked in and asked me that. I didn’t even know he walked in until he said my name. To figure out what happened, I sketched it down to him having a hallucination because he was high and drunk. But, I didn’t know that being drunk and high can cause hallucinations like that or even hallucinations at all(if I am wrong than please let me know in the comments because I am not an expert, thank you). Very much confused and a little shook on what happened, we both go back to the activities of the party and try and not overthink what happened. But, something after happens to me that I can’t explain and understand. So, I have to use the restroom after this and I go to the trailer just because it is the closest to the barn we are chilling in. As I arrive, I notice that the entrance door to get in the trailer is wide open. I quickly go to the bathroom and walk back. Confused but also thinking that Russel just left it open again, I walk back and ask him, “Did you leave the trailer door open again?” He immediately without any hesitation responds, “No, after you told me about it being open and me responding with yes that the first time was indeed me leaving it open, I made sure to close it.” He promises that the last time he used the trailer he closed the door. The last time ironically was when the first event of him seeing someone open the door, look at him, and close it occurred. I asked him who it looked like that did was. He said that he couldn’t tell, but he definitely thought it was one of us, like basically he saw the shadow of someone and couldn’t make out the face to pinpoint who exactly it was. The door being wide open caused me to even have more suspicion towards Russel. I mean it could definitely have been a clever prank because it is a birthday party and is late, which is the perfect time to do a prank like that, especially a scary one like what happened. But the behavior that Russel was showing seemed trustworthy that what he was saying he saw and saying that he did close the door and was legit. Well after these two events, confusion took over and we wanted to know what was the actual cause of these bizarre events. Until, the last thing happens that is either a very crazy coincidence or something sinister at play. Russel has to use the bathroom for the last time that night and this time he chooses to walk to the main house just because the trailer toilet isn’t too good and I completely understand him, I mean I did go there every weekend when my dad was living in it. I walk with him to the bathroom and run back, I have so much fear and was paranoid after all that happened that I am fearful and just full on sprint back like I’m Forrest Gump or something. Russel gets back and immediately he tells us. “When I was in the restroom, I heard a car pull up on the side of the road right next to the house and just heard it sit there. After I was done with the restroom and walking back I turned on my flashlight since it’s very dark out. I pointed the flashlight over to the car to signal to them like a wave but mainly to see what they were doing. Instantly when they noticed I was pointing the flashlight over to them, they slowly sped away but at a rate of being slow to than full on speeding.” After what he told me with that car, at that point I am very confused and just want to know the explanation to what happened. Thinking that car was just a crazy coincidence and the person in it was just texting or something, I calmed a little down. But why would anyone pull up that close on the side of the road to the house, and who the hell would be sitting out at 2 AM texting, and finally if they were texting, why make it suspicious and instantly leave after getting a flashlight shown on you. The car could have just ignored it if they were truly just sitting there and texting or something. To instantly leave after that, is just very creepy and unsettling for me and Russel. Again, all this could have been a clever prank, but his genuine confusion just like I had when all this stuff happened, proves to me that he wasn’t pranking us. Either Russel is a very good future actor or something paranormal happened. Just for all the stuff to happen one after another, it is hard for me to comprehend it. And knowing my grandpa died in the house, kinda proves to me more that paranormal work was at play. I didn’t really believe in the paranormal before what happened and I still am unsure about it all, I mean I am personally religious and believe in god, so technically he would be paranormal and supernatural. Oh and one more thing, I promised I wasn’t gonna say anyone’s name except for mine, but to create an even more creepy coincidence, Russell’s name is actually Jesus. His name is actually pronounced Hesus. I don’t know, just a very weird coincidence or maybe a sign. I can’t understand what happened and I wish I could to crack the case.
