Please excuse the long read, but I find it important to have a little context… I stay in a complex where our houses are in close proximity to each other, and as such you are able to hear your next door neighbours if they are talking loudly etc.
We have a rental property next door to us and a few months ago a lady moved in with her son, who is in primary school. We later found out that her husband died suddenly and understandably left her very vulnerable and her son without a father.
A few weeks later we started noticing a guy coming round. One morning I walked through the sliding door and caught him peering over the wall into my backyard - that’s how I met the guy. The situation quickly progressed to him moving in and driving the women’s car (don’t know what happened to his own).
I work from home, and from what I have gathered, he does not work and is at the house throughout the day drinking. In the evening when the lady and her son returns you can hear him going off on them constantly. He shouts and screams, degrades and viciously attacks her verbally. This happens daily, late into the night in front of the child. I have not seen any visible signs of physical abuse, but have heard things on several occasions that suggest it’s happening.
I’m now in the position where I feel the need to do something, but not unintentionally making the situation worse. I have approached our HOA to inform them and get guidance on what I can do and was told that the only thing I can really do is call the police. The guy obviously has her under his control and taking in account the real possibility of this being a kind of battered partner situation, I am worried that she might not actually admit the abuse to the police. This would greatly intensify the situation afterwords if the guy thought she called the police on him.
I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to deal with this situation…

Hi everyone! I am at Sabah so the law might be different here compare to Semenanjung and Sarawak.
My husband and I just moved in to a condominium here in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and we've signed a tenancy agreement earlier this month.
The agreement was signed, I've transferred the deposit balance which includes security and utility deposits.
The problem we have right now is that the agent for this place that we're renting just texted my husband stating the landlord wanted to add more rules into the tenancy agreement. One of them being "owner can come unannounced into the unit" which I think is really ridiculous. Tenancy agreement was not stamped either after we signed because again according to the agent (idk why the landlord wanted to chat the agent and then send the message to my husband instead of being an adult and directly text him), the owner went back to Johor Bahru and wanted to hold the stamping.
The owner came back from JB and texted my husband that he'll send the TV (because the unit does not come with a TV) and will see us in the evening.
Surprise, surprise, he did not come with the TV. I was not at home at that time and only him and the owner (father of the landlord BTW) were in the house. He came in and my husband thought we'll be getting a TV but no, he was just there to chit chat. And the chit chat involves asking why we wanted to make the other 2 rooms into office, are we going to bring clients in and put workers in here?
This was funny because clearly he doesn't know work from home is a thing. We wanted to make the extra rooms into home office for each of us. Not some scam call centre.
He also asks what our jobs are (both of us are in tech) which he didn't get the answer from the agent, so he came in to asks directly. This entire discussion honestly could've been a WhatsApp message.
3 days later, the agent texted the extra rules that the owner wants to put into the tenancy contract. All were stupid but the stupidest of all were "owner can come unannounced to the unit at any time".
I think it all started when we moved the extra beds from the 2 bedrooms into my mother's unit for storage on our second day here at the rental place. The owner found out and commanded us to return it to the original place. We explicitly said that we do not want the extra beds during the tenancy signing but his response at that time were a shrug. He said "those beds were bought by my sons and I don't want any damage on them". If you use a mattress every day for year, will it not have wear and tear over time?
Anyways, we do not agree to the new rules and we put our final barrel of patience and asks him to talk about this over some cha (owner is Sikh). I personally think it's highly inappropriate for an adult male to come to the unit unannounced especially when I'm alone at that time. As a woman, this world is scary enough. I have to protect myself while a selfish, insecure, man child like this owner can do whatever he wants.
If the owner insisted on pushing the stupid rules, we'll get a lawyer. But I'm still thinking whether the unstamped tenancy agreement is legally bind because I don't want to involve the law and the law skew towards people like these.

Received a package of seeds today that I never ordered. Return address is 940 W. Bethel road Coppell, TX 75019 but it was mailed from zip code 11714 which is NY I'm in Randleman In reference to the seeds I have now discovered this was a scam. What I actually purchased was 2 raised garden beds. They have taken my money and only sent seeds and have written the order as delivered. The company is craftsman-buy and being advertised all over Facebook. They are also making it look very similar to and listing Home Depot to be deceitful. This is being reported to the BBB as well and Facebook. I would like to know what is going to be done about the $50 I lost. Thank you.

2023.03.28 07:52 Ryzer32 How would you divide the mulch from the lawn considering the slope?

How would you divide the boxwoods/mulch area from the grass? It just needs to stop the mulch from going down the slope. I was thinking about some edging from home depot, some sort of rock, or concrete garden edging blocks. However, due to the slope I would like some advice as I do not want the edging to eventually slide down the slope. I have only installed edging on flat areas where I could easily put the rocks in place and they wouldn't move, so I could use some advice. What do you think?

So my local Home Depot is hiring, and I would like to work there so I've been trying to apply for the open positions online. It's strange though, because I've gone to submit my application multiple times (different positions listings) on the website and I'm always met with a dead end. I verify that the store location on the listing is the correct one and then fill out whatever it's asking me to. Then a couple days later I'll receive an email asking me to verify the store location in trying to apply to, but it's always the wrong store, and it's different every time. Naturally, I click "no" because I don't want to apply to the wrong location, but in doing so it says I'm no longer being considered for the position. It's frustrating because it's never the right store. Is there any reason I should keep trying at the online application, or should I just go to the store in person to ask about a job?
