Memory transcription subject: Teklov, Venlil Space Corp
Date [standardized human time]: March 21, 2143
There was slight turbulence when the docking clamps disengaged and released the ship from the station's embrace. As the station shrunk in the porthole, my pad buzzed with a notification. Opening the file, I saw the mission briefing was done digitally rather than face-to-face like usual. I looked up and witnessed the same thing happen to the rest of the team.
‘Why would they insist on giving us the details after the mission has already launched? Does this have something to do with the blockade of Venlil Beta they set up a while ago?’
I asked myself as I accessed the file. The higher ups had been strangely insistent on preventing any information from leaking, going as far as to take away our personal items and shielding the cargo bay against all communication frequencies.
As I read I started to understand, apparently a rogue planet had somehow appeared in Venlil Beta’s orbit, and they wanted to keep a lid on it as much as possible. I shivered as I imagined the stampedes that could result from this leaking. A planet sized object appearing in the system with no clue of how it got there would make the Arxur seem non threatening by comparison. Continuing to read, I saw that I would be providing security for the science detail who would do all the actually important stuff.
‘Probably explains why they dragged me out of the correctional facility’
I thought grimly, giving a high risk position to someone who nobody will cry over would have been my move too.
Self pity aside, I put my pad away and pulled out my issued pistol. They had placed a remote activated shock collar around my neck and it was controlled by the most twitchy fingered Venlil they could find. I need to be careful as to not startle or accidentally threaten anyone since being electrocuted was not my idea of a good start to this mission. While other Venlil would scoff at how ineffective and low quality this model was, I was just amazed that they had given me an actual weapon.
“Planning who you’re going to kill, predator?”
I looked up to see scientist #1 (I didn’t bother learning their names) glaring at me, his eyes smoldering in hatred.
“No, I am checking my weapon so I can stop anything from killing you,”
I calmly responded.
He attempted to throw another insult at me until another scientist next to him cut him off before he could say anything.
“Why are you antagonizing it!? You don’t want it to get angry and eat us don’t you?”
He hissed, clearly underestimating my hearing. With an internal sigh I tashed the pistol back into my pack, I leaned against the wall of the modified patrol ship as the pilot called over the PA,
“we have officially left Venlil Primes orbit, I recommend you get comfortable, it’s going to be a long flight.” Taking the pilot's advice to heart, I slumped over onto my side, pulling my knees up to my chest as my tail wrapped around me. Closing my eyes, I caught a muttered “monster” before darkness overtook me.

“Wake up, predator!”
Upon hearing one of the scientists shout, I opened my eyes and peered up at the one responsible for waking me up. The scientist that was antagonizing me earlier was standing across from with the rest of the “team” huddling behind him. I soon stood up and stretched out my limbs and body, trying to ease the soreness in my muscles.
“Have we reached our destination?” I asked with a hint of assertiveness in my tone.
“That is correct, now go get your vacsuit, we need our meatshield after all.” The contentious scientist responded.
Swishing my tail in acknowledgment, I walked over to the airlock and peered outside the hatch’s window to the landscape of this moon. Despite it being near pitch black, the glow of Venlil Beta provided enough light for me to notice the object’s distinguishing features. The landscape before me was odd to say the least: rather than craters, loose debris, and rocky mountains, there were vein-like structures covering the surrounding terrain. They ranged from the size of my tail to over 3 times larger than the mountains of Venlil Prime. The view was unnerving and it seemed more like flesh than anything. I was both terrified and fascinated by what I saw, making me want to leave and observe from afar. Regardless of how I felt, I still had a job to do.
I returned my attention to getting ready and quickly threw on my vacsuit, tucking my pistol into my holster. I double-checked for any possible openings in case it was faulty before the airlock began decompressing. I was the first one to step foot outside to make sure the coast was clear before the researchers came out from behind. They set up a perimeter around the ship and installed some light poles to get a better view of the ground below. They took some samples and analyzed their composition before one of the scientists went back on board. Although I was supposed to be keeping watch, my helmet managed to catch the communication frequency between them and I heard what was going on.
“It says the soil sample is completely composed of organic compounds. No trace of any space debris, natural or artificial. Not to mention its high density and resistance to ionizing radiation; just a handful of this stuff alone has the mass equivalent of 10 Venlil back home! We have to report this.”
To say that this was strange was an understatement: Not only was this place like a living nightmare, but it felt… alive.
I decided to hike up one of the nearby hills to get a better vantage point; I scanned the area around our landing site to see if there was anything of interest from above. The vein-like structures stretched all the way to the horizon everywhere I looked. Despite not seeing anyone, chills went up my spine and it felt like we were being watched. I looked around once again and saw the antagonistic scientist from earlier eyeing me from below. For a moment I thought he was making sure I didn’t attempt to run away, but the look in his eyes said something else. Deciding to try and build some good will, I hopped back down to the landing site and approached the peering researcher.
“Is there something wrong? I can scout the area if you feel as if there’s something here”
The snide researcher simply stood there, studying me, then finally spoke, “Oh I'm fine. I’m just making sure the Yotul was paying attention.”
Confused, I asked, “But there isn’t a Yotul in the group, we’re all Venlil.”
The scientist snorted, “That’s what you think predator. Why haven't you gone back to your Arxur brothers yet?”
“But I’m not an Arxur or a Yotul, I’m a Venlil, just different.” I countered as a tinge of sadness began working its way into my voice.
Without warning, the scientist stepped forward, swiping his paw through the air mere centimeters from cracking my faceplate. He was visibly angry, and I could tell from his demeanor he intended to throw more than just insults
“NO! You are no Venlil, you’re a monster, a disgrace, a savage, a predator!” he bleated, his eyes filled with contempt.
I instinctively stepped back, my paw dropping to the pocket at my waist. I quickly opened it, revealing the butt of the pistol, but before I could do anything 100 volts of electricity coursed through my body. My paws immediately went for the collar around my neck as I fell to the ground. I attempted to remove the device from my neck but was unsuccessful. I glanced up at the researcher standing above me only to find a sadistic look on his face. He was enjoying this. I quickly got back up on my feet and tried to placate the researcher before he could do any real damage.
“HEY!” there was a sudden shout and another scientist marched over, stopping the confrontation before it could deteriorate any further.
“Teklov, come with me, I’m moving to a different area and I need someone to escort me. Velnek, please continue analyzing these soil samples,” she declared, then turned and began marching away. Quickly I moved to catch up, falling into step alongside her. There was a huff behind us as Velnek begrudgingly got back to work. As we began climbing one of the large veins my thoughts drifted back towards the confrontation. ‘Why was he so aggressive? He has been condescending and hateful, but this was something else’
“You seem pretty calm considering your face plate could’ve been shattered. Mind keeping watch as I unpack something?” She requested politely.
“Of course, It’s my job isn’t it?” I responded
She began to unload segments of a small seismograph. It was quickly put together before being planted into the ground and activated. As soon as it was active, it had already detected activity and recorded the incoming data. It was analyzed by her pad and the information was being displayed on her device. When she looked at what she was receiving, there was a confused look on her face. She rebooted the equipment several times in case what was being received was an error of some sorts. When she noticed that there was no change, she was completely motionless. Rather than detecting alternating seismic patterns, what it detected was consistent rhythmic vibrations getting progressively weaker by the minute. Something like this is unheard of; the only way for a phenomenon like this to occur is if there is something deliberately creating these patterns.
“These readings don’t make any spehing sense! The stupid thing must be broken,” she grumbled, shaking the pad in frustration. Silently I watched her complain under her breath as she started taking the seismograph apart to perform a proper diagnostic.
After several minutes of silence she glanced over to me as I studied the horizon, the feeling of being watched still tickling the back of my neck.
“You’re not one for idle conversation, are you?” she asked, I swished my tail in confirmation. She returned to working on the seismograph. After a few more minutes she commented, “You’re about as emotional as a plank of wood. I assume that’s why you got locked up?”
“That’s correct ma’am,” I answered, she probably read my file so there was no point denying it.
She chuckled, “Don’t have to be so formal, you can use my name you know.” After I didn’t respond she looked up, “You didn’t bother learning our names, did you?”
I glanced down at my feet in embarrassment, “That’s correct, ma’am.”
Putting the seismograph back together she stood up, “Considering you’re stuck working with people like Velnek I’m not surprised. For the record I’m not like him, whatever they may say about you, you have been nothing but respectful and professional this whole time.”
Planting the seismograph back in the ground she turned to face me, “As far as I’m concerned you have done nothing to justify your treatment by the others.”
“Thank you ma’am,” I responded, genuinely warmed by her words.
“Shella,” she corrected.
“Thank you, Shella,” I rephrased.
With an approving tail swish, Shella turned back to the instrument. As she redid the readings, I turned back to the horizon, that foreboding feeling from before returning. Something was off about this place, and it felt like there was a presence here, Like someone was watching us just beyond my line of sight. My paw drifted down to my pocket, but I stopped it before it could reach it. I didn’t want the operators back on Venlil Prime to think I was about to pull a gun on Shella, but I still got a light shock for my troubles.
As I rubbed my singed neck, a call came over the radio, “Teklov, Shella, we need you back at the ship now!”
Looking over at Shella I saw her freeze, then she quickly stood up and started sprinting back towards the landing site, myself just a step behind.
“What happened?” I inquired over the radio.
There was an agitated breath on the other end, “Velnek went insane, he killed Wesley! We need you back to restrain him before he gets to anyone else!”
As soon as I heard this, I immediately quickened my pace, pulling ahead of Shella. When we reached the landing site, I noticed one of the scientist’s face plates was broken open. He laid dead atop his research apparatus, face puffed up from the low pressure and eyes glazed over with blood frozen on his face. It was a horrible sight to see, but my attention quickly turned away from him and towards Velnek. He was tussling one of his partners with a sharp object in his paws, trying to pierce his suit and kill him as he did Wesley. Before any more damage could be done, I called out to Velnek to get his attention.
“VELNEK! LET HIM GO NOW!”
The feral Venlil looked at me with ferocity in his eyes. I could tell by just looking at him he wasn’t the same person he was before landing. Something in him changed, altering him from a mean spirited member of the team to a ruthless predator that only wanted to kill. I never thought I would ever see a Venlil as smart as him become so animalistic so quickly. Before I knew it, he got off of his victim and pounced towards me with a weapon in his grip. Without any hesitation, I pulled out my gun and shot him several times in the chest, sending him crashing into the ground, laying limp by my feet. Not taking any chances I lined up on the back of his head and fired one last shot.
Putting my gun away, I walked over to Velneks former partner, crouching next to him and scanning his suit for any damage.
“Are you okay?” I asked him.
Glancing wearily between me and Velneks dead body he signed an affirmative. Sticking out a paw to him he hesitated, then tentatively grabbed it and I pulled him up to his feet. In the corner of my eye I saw the other researchers eyeing me with abject fear, even Shella seemed shaken. I don’t think they’ve ever seen someone kill another with such a lack of hesitation. I honestly didn’t think I had it in me either, then again I didn’t have time to consider my actions so it was either shoot or die. It was the first time in my life I had to think on my feet. I’m just glad I picked the right choice.
“Well then, any idea what sent Velnek on a rampage?” Shella asked, looking at the dead researcher with consternation.
“Will you please tell us everything that happened?” I asked Velneks partner as non-threatening as possible. I was now regretting not learning the others' names.
“R-Right. We were studying the soil sample as well as hypothesizing the possible inner structure of these irregular rock formations when Valnek began talking to himself. Velnek asked him if he was doing alright and if he needed anything, but when he replied it was with hostility. He wanted to know why he was being so aggressive, but I think it was his persistence that angered him further. I would understand his frustration from me prying at his emotions, but how he reacted was unlike him. When I saw him attack Wesley it was as if I was looking at a vicious beast rather than a well known friend.”
He spoke clearly and comprehensively with a hint of sadness and regret in his voice. I could tell in his body language that he believed that what occurred was a result of his doing. I put my hand on his shoulder and reassured him that what happened wasn’t his fault. There was nothing he could do to prevent this change in behavior or even the rampage. He couldn’t be blamed for something he couldn’t control.
“If that’s the case then I think we might have a new version of predator's disease. One significantly worse and more impactful than anything we have ever seen. It would be best if we proceed with vigilance and get everyone tested, that’s including you Teklov” Shella spoke out from behind, trying to appropriately assess the situation with caution.
We all returned back to the ship, Wesley would be given a proper burial, while Velnek would likely be unceremoniously dumped into deep space. As I removed my Vac suit I heard a throat clearing behind me, turning I saw Shella nervously standing behind me.
“Um, Teklov… for the safety of everyone aboard I’m going to have to confiscate your firearm,'' she said, her face stretched in obvious tension. I reached into the pocket of my vac suit and carefully grabbed it, holding it by the barrel; I turned back to her and gave her my pistol. With a quiet sigh of relief, she grabbed it and quickly secured it in one of the lockers.
As the remaining scientists bustled about, prepping the equipment to research this new predator disease, I looked out the view port to the terrain outside. When I looked outside one last time, I noticed a figure atop one of the mountains afar. It vaguely resembled a Venlil, but they weren’t wearing a vacsuit. I squinted my eyes to get a better look at who it was and how they were alive until Shella yelled my name.
“Teklov! We need you to help us with Velnek’s body after we’re done. We’ll need to perform an autopsy to see if there are any remains of the disease and if it altered his brain chemistry” she said calmly yet hastily.
“Understood” I replied with a tail swish of acknowledgement.
I looked outside again only to see the figure gone. It must’ve figured out I was looking at it and ran away, but I’m still confused on how it was able to survive in a vacuum. The feeling of uneasiness came back once again, but it was even stronger than before.
’What is this feeling? No matter where I’m standing I feel like something is looking at me, judging me for how I was born from afar.’
I wanted to leave this place and go back home so I wouldn’t have to be here anymore. Being in that box they put me in seems better now than it was before. I want to be alone, I want to be in a place where no one can see me.

2023.03.27 16:07 tallagrasseed CNN Breaking News 🌐 Attorney Greg Cump holds a press conference following the Raymond Cooper police shooting and United Patriots nationalist group taunts them

Attorney Greg Cump representing the Cooper family in the tragic shooting death of Raymond Cooper, who was shot over 43 times according to an autopsy report from the Pickens County Morgue and Body Collection Bureau, was on the scene of exact spot where Raymond's bullet pierced body laid dead.
"I want Murica to know what they did to Mrs.Cooper baby boy. He was shot a senseless, actually insane 43 times. I don't even think a dog with rabies would of had to take that many bullets."
Shortly thereafter, a group of 3 pickup trucks arrived to disrupt the press conference with Greg Cump and his fellow attorneys, Mrs. Cooper, and body guards. The group of men recognized as 'United Patriots' , a nationalist group who have increased in numbers since the former presidency of Ronald Rump started taunting the group shouting "43 more times".
There were no PCSO deputies on the scene during the press conference. The United Patriots took full advantage and started whistling from across Patterson Blvd. and the men in the group were cat calling Mrs. Cooper out of disrespect as she lay sobbing next to a makeshift memorial that was erected for her son by Harbor Freight Tools employees.
"You see those people, that group of morons across the street, that is physical evidence of what kind of people reside in this community and quite possibly this whole county. They got the word from the same corrupt police department that killed Raymond and slapping folks in the face, to come down here and intimidate us, but we stand tall and firm and that's why they are on that side of the street."

On March 31st, 2020, Beth Potter and her husband, Robin Carre, were found shot to death in UW-Madison's arboretum. Both were killed by their daughter's then-boyfriend.
Just thought I'd share one of the cases from my hometown that has always disturbed me...not sure if this has been posted & hope I'm doing this right. This is a bit long...but I know how much I enjoy it when you guys write up lengthy posts.
***
Beth Potter (52) and her husband, Robin Carre (57), were both found shot and left for dead in a ditch on the chilly morning of March 31st, 2020.
On March 31, 2020 at 6:28AM, Madison Police were dispatched to the UW Arboretum in reference to a report from two joggers that they had stumbled across what appeared to be two human bodies covered in blood laying off the roadway.
When police arrived at the Arboretum, they were met with a horrifying scene. According to the criminal complaint, Beth and Robin were found off the roadside, surrounded by pools of blood and shell casings, indicating that the crime had occurred at the site. Prosecutors would later describe the killings as “execution-style” and "calculated, cold-blooded, and senseless." Although it was only 30 degrees that morning, Beth was found in only her socks and pajamas, with no shoes, and Robin was discovered lying face down in his underwear with a visible head wound.
When paramedics arrived, Beth appeared to be showing minimal signs of life but was sadly pronounced deceased at UW-Hospital at 7:54AM. Robin was pronounced dead at the scene. The autopsy revealed that both had been shot in the head at close range, with Beth suffering from gunshot wounds to the back of her head and upper arm and Robin suffering from a gunshot wound to the left side of his head.

The Victims

Beth Potter was a family medicine physician, an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the director of Employment Health Services for UW Health. She would later be pronounced dead at the very hospital she was affiliated with. Beth’s husband, Robin, had a PhD in European History and was an educator and coaching director at the Regent Soccer Club. Both Beth & Robin were beloved members of the community and were described as having a reputation of being generous and extremely kind. You can read their obituaries here.

Beth Potter and her husband Robin Carre

Escalating Tensions

Beth and Robin had three children, including their adopted daughter, Miriam Potter Carre. Before the murders of Beth & Robin took place, Miriam had been dating one of her fellow classmates, Khari Sanford. They began dating in 2019.
Khari came from a challenging background; He had experienced homelessness, significant child-hood trauma, conflicts with his previous foster parents, and had attempted suicide on several occasions preceding the murders. According to court documents and interviews, Khari and Miriam also had an extremely turbulent relationship and were frequently in conflict with Miriam’s parents, Beth & Robin. Miriam testified that Khari had told her he “felt like a slave” living under the rules set by Miriam’s parents.
On the stand, Miriam told the court that as their relationship progressed, her parents had become increasingly concerned that the relationship was negatively impacting her mental health and grades; Miriam read a text exchange between them where they both expressed their annoyance with Miriam's parents' "white savior" complex, to which Khari responded via text that it was "cool" because they were "gonna die." Miriam claimed that she did not take his statement literally because Khari had a pattern of using violent language when he was upset.
Shortly before school was canceled due to COVID in March 2020, a classmate came forward with information regarding a conversation he had overheard between Miriam & Khari during their ceramics class. The witness stated that he overheard them discussing how they could get money and that Miriam told Khari that her parents had "bands" of money. A forensic search also extracted a photo (pictured below) from Miriam's phone that showed Khari pointing a "glock handgun" at the lens, which was sent to Miriam during November 2019.
Up until approximately two weeks before the murders, Beth & Robin had allowed Khari to reside at their home with them. Friction quickly emerged due to the Potter-Carres' household rules, such as curfews or restrictions on sleeping in the same room. Miriam testified that Khari rarely interacted with her parents and that he would sometimes even refuse to respond when they greeted him.
Tension between the couple and Miriam’s parents further escalated due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to one of Beth's colleagues, Beth was among the high risk population for COVID due to her medications. The complaint stated that Beth had told a colleague just before her murder that she was extremely frustrated and stressed because Miriam & Khari were failing to abide by their COVID protocols, such as quarantining and social distancing. Conflict over the household rules in conjunction with COVID guidelines prompted Beth & Robin to rent an Airbnb for Miriam & Khari to move into until they could find permanent housing. The Airbnb had been rented just two weeks prior to their deaths.

The Night of March 30th

According to Miriam’s testimony, who was granted immunity, on the night of March 30th, Miriam & Khari were watching the Hangover 2 at their Airbnb. At around 10:15PM, Khari told Miriam that he was going to borrow and drive Robin’s white van (pictured below) to a pawn shop nearby. Around 11:00PM, Miriam began to send Khari numerous texts and calls but was unable to reach him. Phone records revealed that she texted Khari “At least bring back the car and have someone get you from here. I don’t feel safe here,” and then minutes later “why would you put me in this position.”
Khari never responded to Miriam’s efforts to get ahold of him but returned later around midnight with his friend, Ali’jah Larrue, who Miriam claimed she did not know well. Cell site data recorded that Khari's phone was back at their Airbnb at 12:10AM. When Miriam asked them where they had been, neither disclosed to her where they had been or what they had been doing.
The next morning, Khari and Miriam woke up around 11:00AM, and Khari suggested to Miriam that they drive to the Arboretum to smoke. When they arrived, police were everywhere, and Miriam testified that when she first heard the news of the discovered bodies and relayed this to Khari, he responded with “That’s crazy.” Later that evening, Miriam would discover that the bodies in the news belonged to her parents, and she stated that she ceased all communications with Khari from that day forward.

Investigation, Arrest, and Trial

Khari and Ali'jah were both arrested in early April, 2020 by Madison Police in connection with the murders of Beth Potter & Robin Carre and were subsequently charged on April 16th, 2022. Investigation following the murders revealed through surveillance footage and cell-phone data that the white van loaned to Miriam and Khari by her parents and that was driven by Khari on March 30th, had visited both Beth & Robins' residence as well as the Arboretum on the night of the murders. Further analysis revealed that Khari’s friend, Ali'jah's cell phone records were consistent with the coordinates of Khari and the van.
Testimony from Ali'jah Larrue
During Khari's trial, which began on May 17th, 2022, Ali'jah, a key witness for the prosecution, told the court he had known Khari since middle school, and that although he had been present the night of the murders, he had no prior knowledge of Khari's plan to kidnap and kill Beth & Robin.
According to Ali'jah's testimony regarding what occurred on the night of March 30th, Ali'jah stated that Khari had asked him to hangout, and had later picked him up in the van. Later that night, Khari & Ali'jah drove to the residence of Beth & Robin, where Khari parked the car and entered the home. Ali'jah told the court that he saw Khari exit the home with Beth & Robin, with his gun pointed at their backs. Khari forced the couple into the van and demanded that Ali'jah drive to the UW Arboretum. Ali'jah testified that he remembered being frightened, "because I didn't know what was going to happen...there was a gun involved and people I didn't know." Ali'jah recalled that during the car ride, Khari berated the couple with questions, asking "the male and female why they didn't care for their daughter." Ali'jah further stated that Beth had attempted to answer but Khari refused to allow either of them to speak. After they arrived at the Arboretum, Ali'jah testified that Khari quickly exited the vehicle, ordered Beth & Robin to get out, and then proceeded to shoot Robin first, followed by Beth. Khari then demanded that Ali'jah drive them both back to the Airbnb. Beth & Robin were left behind at the Arboretum.
Additional Evidence & Testimony
The prosecution would argue that on March 30th, Khari and Ali’jah had driven to the Potter-Carre residence, kidnapped the couple at gunpoint, and then forced them into the van. The van was then driven to the Arboretum, where Beth & Robin were both shot in the head and abandoned. Further, although Robin was pronounced dead at the scene the following morning on March 31st, Beth had managed to survive until around 8:00AM that morning. Prosecutor Brown made note of this in his opening statement, telling the jury that Beth had "died the next morning in the hospital, after remaining alive in the ditch throughout the night next to her dead husband.”
Footage recovered near the Airbnb also captured Khari & Ali'jah returning to their Airbnb on the night of March 30th and discarding evidence into the woods nearby, including mail addressed to Beth and a broken cell phone. Ali'jah further testified that both he & Khari had used baby wipes to clean the inside of the van after Beth & Robin had been shot.
On April 4th, another witness came forward, informing officers that he had overheard a phone call between Khari and Ali'jah on March 31st. The witness claimed that after Khari learned that one of the victims was still possibly alive (Beth), he told Ali'jah, “I swear I hit them, how did they survive.” Khari also allegedly told the witness that he had shot both victims in “the back of the head,” and that Alijah had been present during the shooting.
Additional surveillance video was also produced during trial that captured Khari at an ATM using the victims' debit cards days after the murders. The footage showed Khari attempting but failing to withdraw several denominations of $300 because he did not have the cards' pin numbers.
Other evidence came from the digital forensics analyzed on Khari's phone during the night of the murders and shortly after them. Phone records showed that Khari had googled the address of Beth & Robins' residence using McDonald's wifi and that his phone had connected to the Potter-Carre home wifi not long after. Following the days after the murders, Khari's phone browser history contained searches such as "how long does it take to know who died?" and "how long does it take to die?" Data also showed that Khari's "find my phone" feature had been disabled following the murder and that a police traffic scanner was downloaded and then quickly deleted from his phone at 4:08 a.m. on March 31st.

Sentencing & Aftermath

Khari Sandford was found guilty of two counts of first-degree intentional homicide in May 2022. Khari was sentenced to two life sentences without the opportunity for parole, and his accomplice, Ali’jah Larrue, pleaded guilty to two counts of felony murder kidnapping as a party to a crime. Ali’jah was sentenced to eight years, followed by 10 years of supervised release.
Both Khari and Ali'jah expressed their regret in court for the roles they played in the deaths of Beth & Robin. Khari told the court: "Potter and Carre saw my potential, accepted my adversities and took me in. So that was me, in the home of Beth and Robin, with mental health issues, not communicating very well, smoking weed, disobeying rules and procrastinating way too much about my future because I was too frantically in love to care." Ali'jah expressed remorse as well, saying: "Thirty months later, I still don't know why this took place. I blame myself every night for not calling police."
Although Miriam was never charged in connection with the death of her parents, an attorney for the estate of Potter and Carre have filed a petition requesting that Miriam be excluded from any inheritance contained in the deceased' wills. Beth & Robin are survived by their three children, Jonah, Ezra, and Miriam.
