For some backstory,
back in late 2015 and early 2016, I got heavily into the Pokémon anime with the original series and Pokémon XY via Netflix. I loved them both, especially XY, and watched all of XY via Netflix. I ended up watching XY&Z via YouTube because it was still ongoing at the time and I did not know what a streaming site was at the time (lol). While I was no stranger to subbed anime, I ended up switching to the English subbed version because it was far ahead of the dub at the time, and I remember how shocked I was when I heard how much better the Soundtrack was, especially in the Ash-Greninja scenes. Although, I remember having a very, VERY hard time getting used to the Japanese names of characters & Pokémon, I got used to it and watched it weekly and ended up finishing XY&Z subbed.

Then, around late 2016, I remember hearing when the dub finally got to the Pokémon League, and then watched it and felt something was off. I saw how badly the dub butchered the Greninja vs Sceptile fight, and this is when I dug deeper and found out about the whole thing with TPCi replacing the music in the dub with generic music to save money, and I ended up preferring the Pokémon anime subbed due to the soundtrack.

Fast forward to 2021, me and a friend started watching anime together, and he wanted to watch the Pokémon anime. I told him about how the modern anime's soundtrack got messed up, so we planned to watch the dub for the original series to Hoenn, then switch to subbed for Diamond & Pearl onwards. I looked to see if we could find the anime subbed with English names, but I saw that nobody had created something like that, I figured I'd step up since nobody else would.

So my friend didn't get disoriented and find it hard to watch from the Japanese name changes, I began this project, starting with the XY anime and ending with Sun & Moon. I wanted to initially start with Diamond & Pearl & Best Wishes, but I couldn't find a soft-subbed version of either online or on Nyaa, so I decided to begin with XY and XY&Z which I thankfully managed to find. I decided I would share this project in this subreddit too, for those who want to watch the subbed version of Pokémon anime, but find it hard to get into because of the name changes.

In this project, what I will be doing is taking existing English fansubs of the anime episodes, and using Aegisub to edit them by replacing the names of characters, Pokemon, locations and etc with the English Dub equivalents. Meaning Satoshi is changed to Ash, Keromatsu is changed to Froakie, etc. I will also be editing stuff like the Team Rocket chant to line up with the dubbed version of the chant (e.g: "This feels bad!" is changed to "We're blasting off again!" and so on). To show that I plan to finish all the way through unlike a lot of similar projects to this that fell apart, I decided I would only post this when I made adequate progress.
Right now, I'm currently at episode 50 of XY, and plan to try to complete at least 3 episodes a day if I have time, which hopefully should be easier now that I've graduated high school.
TL;DR: Since 2021, I've been working on and off on a project where I edit English fansubs of Pokémon XY, XY&Z, and Sun & Moon to "Localize" them by changing the Names, Locations, Pokémon, etc to their English names. I'm at episode 50 of XY so far and plan to continue it now that I have more free time.

We're going to be celebrating the birthdays of both the Best Bros once again! (Both of them were actually born on the same day: May 30th! Keep in mind, we're half a day behind Japan's time zone!) Baliyan Akki & Mei Suruga are team with unrivaled chemistry, a pair of rivals turned partners that have risen to the top of the tag division of Ichigaya (in a string of spectacular bouts) and have even taken down some powerful guests! Mei Suruga is a pin specialist and submission connoisseur (not to mention a total goblin), having recently celebrated her Fifth Anniversary (and the appearance of her second Trainee!). Mei is incredibly gifted at pro-wrestling, undoubtedly destined for greatness in the Joshi scene...though she has her eyes set on a different prize: popularity across the world! Baliyan Akki is the Ace of the promotion, a breezy elite level technician who excels at everything that is put in front of him. The way he strings techniques together is truly breath taking. He is at the top of the food chain for a reason, and it is only a matter of time before he holds a belt again! The way these two different mentalities flow together creates a perfect synergy in the ring. Even with their excellent team attacks, individual specializations, and boundless creativity, they will still be in for a brutal challenge.

Expect some spice here!
Black Comaneci (Tokiko “Otoki” Kirihara & Antonio Honda) are entirely unpredictable and could very well show up in a form we’ve never seen. Though this team favors comedic antics, it should be noted that most of the comedy comes in the form of brutal slapstick and shocking weapons. It should be noted that Tokiko kicks very hard. Comaneci!
UMA (Sayaka Obihiro & kojio) represent the invading Monsters in this one. Can the charismatic veteran and the mysterious dark hero utilize their own unnatural chemistry against the Birthday Bros? These two have been impressing with their ability to adapt and overcome setbacks. Also, they are monsters.

“What is this?”

ChocoPro is a free online promotion run by AEW's Emi Sakura, that takes place in the legendary Ichigaya Chocolate Square! It features a steady pace of live Episode releases, fan interaction, season long story arcs, and much more! A place where the turnbuckles are replaced with 14th floor windows, the ropes are often replaced with fans, unforgiving walls provide creative avenues for skills otherwise unthinkable, and you can take solace in knowing that the referees usually do nothing. While it might be a shocking change at first, the intensity and storytelling will leave you wanting more.

“Why are they fighting in ____?”

Short answer is that it is a cost effective, unique venue with a better availability schedule and allows the roster access for training. Emi Sakura has been using this place for a long time, and you might be surprised at some of the names that have used it (even outside of ChocoPro!). There are a few in-ring Episodes and Gatoh Move has in ring shows with crowds on the YouTube channel. Think of it like the Hart Dungeon but as a promotion, if that helps!

”What are the rules?”

While special match stipulations will usually be explained before the respective matches, the general rules of ChocoPro are simple. Pins only count on the Chocolate Mat and are not broken by the edge or Wall. Submissions usually only count on the Chocolate Mat, and ARE broken by reaching the edge or wall (sometimes ceiling...). Double pins and Double submissions are legal (and encouraged) in ChocoPro Tag matches, meaning cohesive teams will always have the advantage! Count Outs only exist if specified, since many matches stray from the comfort of the Chocolate Square into the streets (and the rest of the building itself!) There is a Time Limit for each bout (based on card placement and importance) and the Referee has discretion (even if they tend to do nothing most of the time!). Every Ref is different, some have different levels of bias and speed.

“How can I support them?”

Season Tracker: We're 13/18 into Season 18! (Each Season is usually around 18 episodes)

So im finally deciding that I should be taking action after being out of college since 2021 to improve my knowledge and create projects so I can find a better job in my field. In college i did not do my best. I have a bachelors in Computer Science but I did not do internships, i only did customer service and retail the whole time, i didn't really learn anything in college cause i was cheating my way through and on top of that my GPA wasn't the nicest.

I still beat myself up to this day for that in the past. I have a help desk/customer service job right now and I hate it with a passion. Ever since April 2022, i have been complaining how much i hate my job and not actually doing anything to fix it. I would be discouraged from applying for jobs cause I would tell myself "they're not gonna hire you and you are just wasting your time" since i dont really have any experience and no certifications or projects. I would find free courses online and watch maybe 15 minutes or less of them and then my mind tells me that Im wasting my time and there is no point in watching such videos since they don't seem very relevant (although if i stuck with it and got past the intro part im sure it would actually be of substance) Or I would watch many different courses at the same time and its like internally I keep making up excuses like "its a waste of time" or "im a slow learner it will take too long for me to actually understand" or the perfectionist part of me "you have to learn one a time cause if you try more than one it wont stick"

But the thing is though ive already wasted a year and a half not doing anything and for some reason its just such a challenge for me to stick to this. Ive heard people say take baby steps sometimes like 15 minutes a day and gradually increase but of course my mind convinces me once again its just a waste of time . Today i did spend a bit of time looking up jobs i could get in the field and specific courses and projects I could do cause another thing is I don't know exactly what I want to do with my degree. I just know what I DON'T wanna do. How does one stop letting that little voice in your head stop you from making progress?

I’m finally getting around to writing my graduation post! My baby is 11 months so it took me a while. I had better write it down now while I remember the details.
I was classified as AMA (38F) and all through my pregnancy, my baby boy was looking really BIG during my scans. As I approached my final weeks my midwife let me know that a predicted larger baby made me eligible to opt for an induction at 39 weeks. I was so big and uncomfortable, I jumped at this! Also, I had an insane fear of tearing and didn’t want to give birth to a double-digit pound baby.
I had a few cervical sweeps at 38 weeks. I hoped this might jumpstart things naturally and I could avoid a medical induction. To my surprise, the sweeps were TOTALLY manageable. I’ve had pap smears that were worse than my sweeps. A few reddit posts had REALLY freaked me out about how awful it might be, but luckily for me it was NBD. It was so exciting and surreal when my midwife told me she was literally touching the top of my baby’s head. I’d been eating 5-10 dates a day for weeks and I was told my cervix was pretty ripe, but not super dilated. That week I went for the longest walks my swollen-ass ankles could handle. I even ate a bag of ghost pepper chips to try and bring on my induction but it just ended up giving me indigestion.
Finally at 39 weeks exactly - a tuesday - I went to the hospital to start the induction process. Before this, I thought induction was just a one time thing I didn’t realize it could take days. I started with the insertion of cervidil (pessary) and got sent back home. I couldn’t really tell if I was having mild contractions or if it was just in my head - if anything was happening, it was definitely mild. I returned the next morning - Wednesday - and got my 2nd cervidil inserted. I went home and a few hours later, after peeing, I noticed the pessary had come out and was in the toilet. It was around this time I started to feel contractions though. Just waves of manageable but STRONG pain. I was mostly on all fours, leaning over my yoga ball when the pain came on. I was really afraid beforehand of the pain aspect of labour, but I felt like I could handle everything at this stage. I couldn’t really move around when the pain was happening and it started to seem impractical to imagine being seated in car while driving to the hospital so I told my husband (and doula) that I was ready to head in to Labour & Delivery.
I was terrified of the stories of being sent back home but they told me I was about 4.5cm dilated and ready to be admitted. Quickly after being admitted I was escorted to my (beautiful! palatial! FREE!) birthing suite. The suite itself was probably about the same size of our 1 bedroom apartment I quickly stripped off and got into the tub just labour through the contractions as my (angel) doula continually poured water over my back. That went on for a couple of hours at least. I was on nitrous (gas & air) only at that point. Of course the intensity and pain of the contractions continued to amplify and I started telling the midwife and nurses that I was ready to fold and get an epidural. My midwife checked my dilation and told me, very gently but seriously, “You are actually in TRANSITION right now. You’re over 9cms so if you want you can just start pushing now and we’ll have your baby pretty quickly!!” I don’t even think I took a full second to consider it, I just immediately said “No, I for sure want an epidural”
I had to get out of the tub and on to the bed in order to get the epidural and even that was an impossible agony but probably 15 mins later I got my drugs and the relief was AMAZING. The epidural kind of brings your dilation down (something else I didn’t know about) so I went back down to 7cms and got to take a power nap (as did my husband). We probably slept for 3 hours or something. Even though I felt no pain, I was absolutely able to move my legs around, get into different positions. It wasn’t like I was dead below the waist (a common misconception that I see on this sub sometimes).
It was early Thursday morning when I was ready to start pushing again. I got pitocin at some point, I guess to get me to dilate after the epidural. The room was FULL of people (residents, ob, pediatrician, midwife, nurses, etc) because I had some meconium in my waters. Something weird that happened was my feet/legs were up on a birthing bar to help me bear down to push but the elevation made me feel really light headed. At one point, everything kind of went dark and I ended up fainting. My heart monitor went a little funny and I just announced “I’m going to pass out” and sort of slumped over. I could kind of hear folks rushing around me but couldn’t move or anything. I did come around again once my feet came down and started pushing again.
By the way, once you get that epidural, pushing feels EASY. I honestly could have pushed out 4 babies. I’ve had spin classes that are more taxing than the epidural pushing. It was fine. My husband wasn’t going to watch what was happening directly because he’s incredibly prone to fainting but I guess he steeled himself in the moment and watched it all. It was really cool. He was able to see our son’s head coming out and even go with him to the baby warmer and put on his first diaper. (Neither of us were interested at all in cutting the cord!) They showed me my placenta afterwards (my doula had to sort of talk me into it) and it was actually really *amazing* to see.
My boy did end up being big - nine pounds, 6 oz - basically exactly what the ultrasounds were predicting. And, yes, I did tear. :( Only 2nd degree, so nothing crazy. It’s all fine now, but a week after the birth I ended up having to go back to the hospital with uncontrolled bleeding. It turns out some internal stitches had come out (how???) and I had to be re-sutchered. Again, I had some nitrous to take the edge off but THAT was so much worse pain that anything that happened during labour. It was almost, like, *blinding* pain.
Anyway, I’m never going to have a second baby. I don’t have enough money plus I’m old, lol. But I **wish** I could be pregnant and give birth just ONE more time, just now because I understand fully what’s on the other side. When I told people that I was nervous about labour pain, tearing, etc they’d always say “BUT YOU GET TO MEET YOUR BABY!” which didn’t really MEAN anything to me. But now I understand what it means to actually meet and fall in love with this little person that you made. I understand how magical it all is! Nobody had more dread about pain than me, and now that I’ve gone through it all… I feel like I could and would do it again! (I mean, again, if I was younger and had more money and space!!!) Every month I fall even more in love with my amazing and perfect kid. It’s funny to think back on all the time I spent worried that I would regret my decision to have a child. But, for me, being a mom is far and away the best decision I ever made. And my birthing experience is the most powerful and beautiful experience I’ve ever had.

Hi all, I've been on this sub for a bit and have noticed a good number of people here have had varied / atypical career paths so wondering if the folks here would be able to help answer.
My situation is interesting. During the pandemic I was in school for an advanced degree, having an absolutely miserable time. I attributed that to the pandemic but since graduating, well, I think the field itself was a bigger part of my misery than I had admitted. I have been trying for a year to get a job in that field, the whole time having doubts over whether it was what I really wanted. Now, I'm tired of going in circles, sick of applying to jobs and feeling like I have to mask everything I like about myself every time I have an interview, and honestly, just want to move on with my life. I don't think I want to work in that field at all (at very least, do not want to spend another year living with my parents and applying to those kinds of jobs right now--I want to get out and start living again).
The thing I really want, which has always been a sort of "B-plot" of my life, always in the background but never my focus, is to be a writer. I know, I know--it's unoriginal, it doesn't pay, etc, I've heard it all. But it is what it is, I truly believe it's my purpose on this Earth, and something about watching the world go through awful times makes it feel more urgent than ever to create and bring people bits of joy to make it through.
My current goal is finding a city that is cheap enough for me to support myself on odd jobs while working on my writing. Hopefully my writing would eventually bring in income too, whether it's books through a traditional publisher or writing online with Patreon subscribers or writing commissioned stories for weird nerds I really don't care, I am willing to take unconventional routes to support myself at this point because again, that is what I want. But for the time being, I'll need to make enough on odd jobs to support myself.
One thing I would really love in a new place is a community of artists. Where I am now (suburban MA) people realllyyy don't understand my creative sensibilities, it's actually incredibly conformist and boring over here. Like if I wear something nicer than jeans and a sweatshirt to the grocery store I'm guaranteed getting stared at lol. Plus, on top of writing I play piano / sing a little, used to dance, and dabble in art & photography, and would love to spend my free time doing more of all of that with others who enjoy it. Being an east coast girl everyone only thinks of NYC as the place for artists, but be real, I am not currently able to pay $4,000 / month for a studio. I'm thinking there MUST be other places in this country where artists gather in 2023, right? Like there must be places these days where you can be a little bit broke but still manage to at least afford rent and food, and spend free time collaborating with other artists, like NYC used to be in the old days before it got so pricey? Places where there are art markets and shows to attend and shit like that? I guess I'm looking at cities where rent would be closer to $1,000 / month for a studio / 1-bed. I think I could swing it b/w retail (currently working for a large company that is in basically any city in the US, and think I could transfer my job & wage) and like a waitressing, tutoring, or bartending job that pays a bit above minimum.
Anyways, I am just wondering if anyone here has suggestions of places they've lived that fit the bill, both financially & socially. I am really open to going anywhere in the US, I have "started over" many times in my 20s living various places abroad and am not afraid of going somewhere new. Thanks

i'm gonna try to make this as short as possible, but this issue has a lot of layers to it i'll have to skip over. to put it simple, i'm f19, my boyfriend is m18, and his brother is m19. we'll call my boyfriend's brother pete, and pete's girlfriend shelby. pete and my bf still live with their parents, but pete also has an apartment in another city that's closer to shelby, it's about 2 hours away. he was supposed to be moved out for good, but he rarely goes to his apartment. in the fall, he bought a puppy. the very next day he went on a trip for work, leaving his puppy with my boyfriend and i. he was gone for almost 3 months. since coming back, he doesn't care for the puppy at all. he works full time and leaves the puppy with his family any time he goes up to stay in the other city by shelby. he never trained it, my boyfriend and i take it to all vet appointments, and his mom is the one who feeds it and takes it out potty. his mom works from home, but it's a big job and she doesn't have the time at all to be raising a puppy for him so he just runs around the house all day. i dog sit for their family because they travel often, typically just the family dog who is old and sleeps all day. a couple months ago, pete asked me to watch his puppy along with the family dog. i said sure since i had already raised the dog while he had been gone. i noticed some concerning things after they left, not eating all his food, not sleeping, hurting himself to break out of his cage, things he never does when the family is here. i called a family friend who is a therapy dog trainer and has a degree. she said the puppy is showing severe signs of separation anxiety and needs to be boarded with a specialist within the next few months, he has to be helped while he is still a puppy. i am a big animal lover, so i felt terrible knowing i was handling a dog who was absolutely terrified. so when they got back, my boyfriend and i told pete this was serious and i would not watch the puppy again until he got help. i got a recommendation for anxiety medicine and took the puppy to the vet myself, and that was more than enough to help since it is not my puppy. a few weeks later they had another thing to travel to, pete asked if i'd watch the puppy and i said no, obviously. they were just seeing family so pete was able to bring the puppy anyways. but the day they left, pete left the puppy anyways and wouldn't let his family stop him. it was horrible. the puppy was too frightened to even go potty when i took him out, and he'd end up peeing himself when he couldn't hold it any longer. i knew they had vacation coming up, so i told pete the puppy needed to be enrolled to a specialist for the week of the vacation. his parents reminded him to do so over and over again. but of course, he did not. he asked me 2 weeks before the vacation and offered me $500 to do so almost as hush money. i typically do it for free. i am positive that he had been planning on doing that all these months thinking i would cave for money. i said no and everything went chaotic. shelby started blowing up my phone implying that i'm just too lazy to care for a puppy and that she has to stand up for pete and the puppy is hers too. i raised the puppy, she barely ever sees it. pete called my boyfriend to say that i'm being selfish because just becuase i don't want to do it doesn't mean they have the time to find a specialist and whatnot. i could go on for a while about all the things they said, it was hours of them tearing me apart and taking digs at me. but their main excuse was that it was impossible to find somewhere within 2 weeks. so, i found them a 5 star specialist within an hour who would take the puppy for the exact week they would be gone. pete was clearly offended and apparently was being nasty towards his mother when she told him. he of course refused. he said it was a 'money issue'. i think that is a lame excuse because all he pays for is rent, not food or gas or anything else. and he makes 6 figures because his dad gave him a job at his company. i don't even understand because even if i simply did not want to, that's okay. i'm not obligated to do anything, i'm his brothers girlfriend. i also think shelby was way out of line and fueled the fire. a few days passed and i had posted a bible verse on my story, it was nothing crazy that's just something i like to do and my baptism was happening that week. shelby saw it, pete did not. all of a sudden, pete starts going off on my boyfriend about how childish we are to post bible verses to be passive aggressive at them. i had no intention of that and it was not out of character for me. so i removed shelby as a follower, since i was sure that she had screenshot it and told pete to confront us. she noticed within 5 minutes that i removed her, meaning she had been stalking my account looking for things to be angry about, probably since they had no justification to be upset that i was the only one looking out for a neglected puppy. she then sends me paragraphs about how this has gone too far. i basically just told her to leave me alone, i am not comfortable with my account being monitered and i am not okay with criticism in regards to my faith. it's my choice to post what i want, and it is not my fault that she is so immature that she cannot understand that not everyhting is about her. pete is now sending the puppy to a random person from rover.com. shelby went on about how spending money would be stupid and that the puppy just needs more exercise. they're blatently ignoring its needs. the whole family has moved on and forgiven pete, but i don't know what to do because i don't want to be a bystander to abuse. his mom says we shouldn't do anything because there will also be times when we don't agree with theur parenting style after they have children, but i think parenting style and neglect are different. it emotional abuse at this point. the dog has been on 3 walks in its entire lifetime because pete cares more about going to see shelby and getting drunk that puppy care. what do i do??

I wanted to ask, is there any TTRPG with just D6 or bunch of D6's.

I have been with my husband for 20+ years. His mother has always been a terror, but lately, I’m just over it. Divorce is looking like an option at this point, but I can’t help but wonder if she is the bigger problem, or is he? MIL constantly does things we have asked her not to do. If our children are visiting her, she will feed them candy and fried foods for supper, and let them eat unending amounts of snacks. They drink cokes to no end, etc. I’m not a prude with my kids nutrition, but I don’t let them have a “free for all” diet either. I’ve repeatedly told her to stop, yet she still does it. Husband just laughs it off. She invites herself over ALL THE TIME, and in the past has even brought other people with her. She plans cookouts at our house and then tells us. She has asked to borrow money, yet has a bad online shopping habit. She will pull up and just tell our kids to get in, never asking us. My husband shrugs his shoulders at all of this, and I get the “she’s old, it’s no big deal” excuse. She also has a bad habit of telling people how exhausted she is from watching our kids, yet she is the one that gets them. She also has my husband believing that she is physically incapable of doing anything yet she has no issue going on shopping trips 45+ mins away from the house. He does everything for her, everything! She won’t even attempt to change a lightbulb in a lamp, just immediately calls him and gets whiny like a child if he can’t come do it for her at that exact moment. My husband is an only child and it’s like he doesn’t have the ability to tell her, No, but bet your tail he has no issue telling me. I know he sees all of this. She is the one thing that we constantly argue about. I would NEVER tell someone they had to choose between me and their mom, so I’m just at the point of removing myself from the equation. Am I being over-dramatic here?

Ok I didn't play a crazy amount over the weekend and I'm only up to 16 hours but most of that was jumping on for 1.5 games and then going to do something else and I definitely had some Squad Leaders that knew how to play the game but I wasn't getting a lot of enjoyment until my last string of games.
Throughout the weekend most of my squad leaders were generally pretty quiet (in my opinion, maybe I was just expecting something else coming into this game) and communication was limited to "We're going here to do this then when we do this we're doing this". With no knowledge of the game I never really knew where I was meant to be going or watching so I just loosely followed anyone nearby and looked in the same general direction but that led to me being separated from my squad a fair bit so even when something was said over the radio it wasn't relevant to me. Maybe I could have tried a bit harder to stick with the squad but often we would go to an objective, spread out and then at some point they would move on without me or die and respawn or I would die and respawn somewhere else. Some of these guys obviously knew what they were doing and were placing spawn points in the right places and putting down good markers on the map which made the game bearable even if it was a slaughter but there were times where we were either stomping the enemy or they were stomping us where I just didn't get to play the game at all.
Enter my last chance at the game this weekend. I jumped on right at the start of a game and the squads were filling up quick but there was one called 'use a mic' or something similar that had a few people joining and leaving it so I jumped in quickly when a spot opened up and to my surprise I was greeted by the squad leader pretty much before I even spawned in although that was just him asking me if I could swap to a medic since the squad didn't have one yet. While I was trying to figure out how to change my role and select medic someone else had already done it so I jumped into the chopper with the rest of the squad. There was a bit of chatter going around and I forget what I said, It might have been me asking how to 'yellow chat' (turns out it's green and I can't tell the difference because I'm colorblind) but a few people picked up on me being a free weekender pretty quickly but other than a couple of quick jokes none of them were bothered by it. To my joy the Squad Leader was very vocal and I ended up playing 3 games in the session and looked for his squad in the 2nd and 3rd game.
Anyways we took the chopper to the destination marked by our SL (The heli basically crashed on landing but the pilot somehow managed to keep it in one piece and get it onto flat land to repair it) and built up our spawn point only for the SL to tell us that we're going to move somewhere else so we dug it up (I learnt how to do this) and went somewhere else. We made it there (heli decided to land on a flat patch of land this time) and captured the area only to find out that the next place we needed to go was the place we originally were so we got in the chopper (who landed 2 fields away from where the marked landing zone was) and flew towards it. We landed and tried to get our spawns built up but got engaged by the enemy and then wiped when some enemy vehicles turned up. At this point the squad was definitely looking like a bit of a mess. The SL hadn't actually got us to do anything useful and we didn't see a single enemy in the first 10 minutes of the game so it was pretty grim in terms of enjoyment. Apparently we were supposed to be an attacking squad but we couldn't really get anywhere to get off a good attack and our SL noticed that one of our objectives was being contested so he decided that we'd (what was left of our grouped up squad since some people died earlier and already respawned where there was action) run back and help defend. The SL was active on the radio asking for people to regroup with the squad and telling us what our new objectives were and since he seemed to know what he was doing I decided to keep close which was a great idea because if he needed someone to do something he'd just call the closest person to do it so I got to be useful! Along the way back to defend a few members of our squad were killed and our medic was off partying with another squad at a different objective so we arrived at our location, a u shape of apartment blocks, with only 4 members. The SL and I ran into the closest building while the other 2 went to clear the opposite building. I was able to clear out building quickly since there was only 1 enemy in it while the other 2 members both died in their building. We were pinned down in our building waiting for the rest of our squad to respawn and make the long run to come and support us or for more allies to move in from the North. The SL told me that he would hold the stairs and I could peak the windows and see if I could take out some enemies. We spent a decent amount of time holed up in this building and I was able to take down a few enemies that were either in the opposite building or attempting to enter the perimeter. On a couple of occasions enemies entered our building to be greeted by my SL but one time he was downed by an enemy after weakening them enough that they were easy for me to finish off. The only problem was that he was down in potential line of sight of the enemies and if I tried to get him back up I'd likely die too. Flashback to a couple of previous games where I was in similar situations. "There's a rock right next to me, drag me there and get me up" said the downed team mate. "How do I drag you" I replied. "Fuck sake, fucking free weekend noobs" sounds of dying. Not my SL though. He even led with the "Oh sorry" like he shouldn't expect me to know the basic controls of the game. Our situation went on a little longer and when I was confident there was no more enemies in our proximity I thought I'd look behind us where we had originally came in and in the distance I saw some enemies sprinting into a treeline. SL told me he was going to make me an FTL (whatever that means) and that I needed to mark them on the map (however I do that). But once again, no question to stupid for my SL and I had my real quick crash course of being a FTL and marking things on the map. We'd held on long enough that our allies had made it in to the area and cleaned up the rest of it so we moved out to try and help the team with what was left of the game. We ended up losing by about 30 tickets and I spent most of the game either running from (according to the SL) badly placed spawn points or sitting in the apartment building but it was probably the most fun I had playing the game all weekend purely because of the SL. I swear over the games we played together I probably bandaged him half the time he went down and many notable times of us not being together, him doing down and then being picked up and saying "IT'S YOU TAYLOR". He spent a lot of time apologizing for not placing down 'useful' spawn points or not getting us tons of action but the only bad thing he did was that he kept asking me if I was going to buy the game and that he better see me online again tomorrow night because I didn't have the heart to tell him that I probably wasn't going to buy the game while we were having such a great time.
He wasn't the best Squad Leader and I bet most regular players would say he wasn't even a good Squad Leader but he made the game far more enjoyable for me than any other Squad Leader I had in my other 13 or so hours playing the game. Going in to that last session I didn't really have any intention of buying the game and playing it any more but after those 3 games (we lost all 3 and only 1 of them was apparently slightly close) I did put the game into my cart on steam and I definitely have some thinking to do on whether or not I can justify buying the game. TL;DR had squad leader that used mic a lot, gave me things to do and taught me how to do them and was very friendly. He made the game way more enjoyable than any other squad lead I had including the super tryhard ones that stomped the game into super quick wins. Spent 2/3 of the game moving around the map and 1/3 sat in an apartment building and it was still more fun than anything else I did on Squad all weekend.
